Thanks to Howard for sending: “Sad to see the National Park Service unilaterally shutting down a major Capitol Hill park space with no notice to the community. Lincoln Park is an important venue for families, dog owners, park lovers.”

From the Humane Rescue Alliance:

“Zenobia Fisher and Alphonso Allen of Northeast Washington, D.C., were arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 11 and charged with second degree theft and animal cruelty following a joint investigation by the Humane Rescue Alliance and the Metropolitan Police Department.

On Aug. 18, Fisher began fostering Godiva and her seven 2-week-old puppies, giving HRA a false name and address. Once Fisher left HRA with Godiva and her pups, HRA’s foster team was unable to make contact with her despite numerous attempts. An investigation by HRA’s humane law enforcement officers and MPD determined Fisher’s real identity and discovered she, along with Allen, had sold at least four of the puppies to separate and unaffiliated individuals for money. Two of Godiva’s puppies remain missing. HRA is offering a reward of up to $7,500 for information confirming that they are safe. All tips can be anonymously reported to HRA at 202-723-5730. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

There is a sign in my neighborhood on G and 4th NW of “Rehoming Puppies” “Poodles, Yorkies & More”. DC has a huge dog stealing problem and as a dog owner, I want to flag this sign as myself and the other dog owners in the area are a little weary of it and I want to remind other pet owners to continue to be aware of their surroundings while walking their dog and being extra cautious.”

From the Humane Rescue Alliance:

“Last night, we reunited a FIFTH puppy in Godiva’s litter, named Oli, with his mom and siblings. We’ll work with the family who brought Oli in to return him to them once he’s older and strong enough to be separated from Godiva.

Each reunion brings happy tears to our eyes and gives us renewed hope that the remaining puppies will be reunited with Godiva and their brothers and sister.

Last month we found sweet Godiva tied to a pole – abandoned and alone. Her seven 3 ½-week-old puppies had been kidnapped, ripped away from her, and denied their right to grow up with and learn from their mother and siblings during their critical developmental period. It shattered our hearts, and we vowed to do everything we could to reunite the entire family. (more…)
