“Lottie was out for a walk when she ran away. She is wearing a pink harness which still had her pink rope leash attached. She is new to us from a rescue group, so she is probably very scared.

She was at 13th and G NE making her way towards 12th and Maryland. Possibly seen heading south on 10th Street.

She LOVES cat food and is great with women, but men scare her. Please call 856-693-3289 or email me at lottiethelostdog(at)gmail.com if you think you see her.”

Update: “While putting up fliers tonight, Lottie found us. She is home resting.”

“Dear PoPville,

Yesterday, around 530PM, our dog was attacked by another dog inside the LeDroit dog park. The dog that attacked her was a 20 lb-ish, white, short-haired, mixed-breed with black and brown splotches. Very aggressive.

He latched on to Luna’s neck just after we entered (She’s a 13.5 lb white Maltese/Shih Tzu). The owner picked up his dog and our dog was still in his bite, dangling. After a minute or so, he finally got his dog to let go. It was dark and I was just trying to calm her down so we couldn’t tell that she had the wound until he had already left.

The owner has puffy curly black hair, younger, white male in his 30’s maybe. The owner also has a medium sized short-haired, black dog. Please let us know if you have any information to help us locate the owner. We have no reason to believe that he wouldn’t be cooperative.

He hung around to make sure we were okay but we were in shock and the bleeding hadn’t started until she started moving again.

She was admitted to the vet and stitched up immediately. She’s on meds and recovering now. The tube will be removed Saturday if all goes well.”

“One of K-9 Lifesavers’ rescue dogs, Brandi, was on her way to her new foster home on Sunday and ran out of the car on Yuma Street near Reno Road. She was last seen at Park and Otis this morning. Dog is very shy – do not chase – please call 443-310-7631 if you see Brandi. Reward offered.”

“Dear PoPville,

I really want a dog, but at this current moment in my life I cannot commit to loving one full time. So I have decided to try and love your dog on a temporary basis.

If you want someone to take your dog on an occasional walk, or play with the lil’ guy while you engage in the rest of your life, well then I’m your guy. I’m happy to provide some references, and do what it takes to show you that I am a trustworthy fellow. If things work out, I would be willing to watch your dog for free when you need me to. I do have a 9-5 job, so I couldn’t help you out during the working week, but weekends and after work I would be available.

Let me know if you’re interested and I’d be happy to swing by for a meet and greet.

All the best,
Jeff”

At long last a new tenant for the former Du Froyo spot in north Dupont near La Tomate. Their website says:

“The Cheeky Puppy serves the unique needs of city-dwelling pet lovers and celebrates the love – and sense of community – that our four-legged family members bring to our modern, urban lives.

The Cheeky Puppy also believes that having four-legged family is a privilege and should not contribute to the degradation of our planet nor harm the two and four-legged friends with whom we share it. At its heart, The Cheeky Puppy is fun, yet functional, sophisticated, not snobby.

We celebrate our home in Washington, D.C. and the special place that pets have in our nation’s history. It really is true — if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog. Or a cat. The Cheeky Puppy is decidedly bipartisan in its politics and emphatically nonpartisan in the dogs versus cats debate.”

LOST: Black/White Husky named London:

“We lost our black/white husky/shepherd mix named London. He is about 50 pounds. He is a rescue and is probably more scared of you than anything. He escaped around 12:00pm today around Cleveland park metro. If you see him please call or text Jacki at 773-575-7190.

With tonight’s low temperatures, we greatly appreciate your help in finding him.”

UPDATE: Found!

“This cat followed us home to Belmont Street NW between 13th and 14th. Does not look like a stray. Just seems lost. Can you post a pic and see if any owner comes forward? If not we will probably have to drop it off at Humane Society. Our dog does not love cats. Thanks.”

If this is your cat or know who’s it is, please email amckechnie77(at)gmail.com

Short Articles about Long Meetings shares the news:

“A committee of Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 1B/U Street voted December 16 to endorse the request for zoning variances necessary for the establishment of a day-care service for dogs on the first floor of a mixed-use building at the corner of 14th Street and Florida Avenue NW. The recommendation of the Design Review Committee will now go to the full ANC for consideration at the next meeting in January.”
