“Dear PoPville,
Are they going to be killing deer??? I’m so confused! Does anyone know what this means? I can’t imagine we are shooting our rock creek park deer but who knows?”

“Dear PoPville,
Are there any known plans to rehab the benches around the fountain at Dupont Circle? Seeing the benches in complete disarray is heartbreaking. The circle has been a part of my entire 30+ years here in DC. I’d rather have benches than a working fountain. Maybe we could have both?”
Official word from NPS: “After an extensive rehabilitation project, the Dupont Circle Fountain is flowing again. Now properly balanced and waterproofed, the fountain will run until cold temperatures required it to be winterized.”
Thanks to Brad and Matt for sending photos of the Dupont Circle fountain flowing again once more!!: Read More

“An area of Fort Totten Park remains closed and fenced, and cement barriers and “no trespassing” signs will remain while the National Park Service (NPS) and U.S. Army further investigate the metal canisters, determined to be WWI-era munitions, found there in the spring. One munition was a 75-mm projectile, approximately 3 inches in diameter and 11 inches long. The other munition was a Livens projectile, approximately 6 inches in diameter and 19 inches long. Initial assessment by Army experts indicated Read More

I was admiring this little new (to me) park in Mount Pleasant (kids playground is above) and giving the leaves changing I’ve got parks on my mind – so besides the magnificent gem of Rock Creek Park – what are your other favorite parks in DC? In can be anything from a pocket park or smaller like the Spanish Steps, larger like the Franciscan Monastery grounds, or quite large like the Arboretum or anything in between. What are some of your favorites? Also wondering about your favorite parks a short drive to get too?
