Thanks to a reader for sending word about the switch:

“I’ll miss Azi’s but with compass and Colombe owning the yuppie friendly coffee market, and Starbucks sucking up the other traffic it probably made sense for them to transition a bit. The food is really, really solid. Happy to have a great option for cheapish food in the neighborhood besides ivy and coney dogs.”

From MPD:

“On January 23, 2015 and January 24, 2015, members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District VICE Unit conducted a Undercover Prostitution Operation in PSA 308.

Officers conducted this operation with the intention of locating persons involved in illegal solicitation of prostitution related offenses. This operation targeted both Prostitutes and the “Johns”, AKA: Customers who enter this city to engage in or conduct their illicit business and or services.

Over the course of the operation itself, a total of (25) adults were arrested and charged with “Solicitation of Prostitution”. In addition, one of the adult “John’s” was also found in possession of illegal narcotics.

This operation was facilitated and managed by the 3rd District VICE Lieutenant, Deborah Pearce. Lt. Pearce encourages anyone who may have information related to these types of illegal activities to contact the Third District VICE “Tip Line” at (202) 673-6925.”

“Dear PoPville,

Do you know if there’s rhyme or reason why some of the Walk/Don’t Walk lights in the city, specifically on N St in Logan Circle and Shaw, require you to press the button for the Walk light while others do not? I can understand the need to trigger the light at intersections with little pedestrian traffic, but at 14/N there’s almost always someone waiting for the light. It’s certainly not a big deal to push a button, but the problem arises when you walk up, people are already there (but nobody has pressed the button), and the Walk light doesn’t change to Walk, and then you have to scurry in a matter of a few seconds. Just curious.”

“Our cat went missing on Sunday afternoon. I’ve contact the Humane Society and Shaw Listserv but we are trying to get as many eyes on the lookout in the neighborhood as possible.

Misty is a three year old long haired white cat with large gray spots. Misty is part of the Humane Society’s CatNIPP Program, so his left ear has been clipped.

Misty never strays far from our home at 5th and O Street and NEVER misses a meal, so we are very worried.
