Well this awesome!! If you told me in 2003…I’d have believed you!! Oh yeah. Check out the good word from Bon Appetit. Much love to my friends at Timber Pizza Co.:

“GO HERE: for blistered, bubbly, farmers’-market-produce-laden pizzas fresh from the ripping hot wood-burning oven. What began as a roving food truck is now a fixture of D.C.’s Petworth scene, with Argentine chef Daniela Moreira at the helm.”

And an equal Mazel to the fine folks at Himitsu:

“GO HERE: for an imaginative Japanese-inspired meal that isn’t preoccupied with tradition. Yes, there’s a solid selection of nigiri and sashimi for those who want to play it safe, but we recommend heading for more unfamiliar territory–like uni paired with Alabama white sauce.” (more…)

From Straw Stick & Brick’s owner Carolina Gomez:

“DearSSBDelicustomers,

The building owner where we do business has decided to sell. After several months of thoughtful conversations Jason and I have decided to sell the business to pursue new opportunities that have presented themselves. SSB Deli will be closing on July 31st 2017 until the new owner is ready to re-open [as a restaurant] at a date that is to be determined.

We would like to thank everyone for the wonderful years that we have shared. Many of you are weekly regulars that have been frequenting the shop for over 5 years. I’ve been able to have the pleasure to meet most of you in person and we’ve gotten to know each other very well. You’ve become my friends and it has been fulfilling to serve the community. It’s been an honor to have built a place that you could come to get a bit of comfort food and see a familiar face. The shop originated as a small idea while we were in college. My dream has always been to contribute to the place where I grew up. (more…)
