From an email:

I’m a local resident and organizer of 2010’s World Cup fan festival and snowball fights in Dupont Circle Park, and I would like to let you know about another event that I am organizing for next month: Dance in the Circle (DITC).

The six-hour dance festival, scheduled for April 21st, will be the first of its kind in Dupont Circle Park, featuring a dance floor, speaker system, lights, DJ booth, and 10 local-area dance companies doing performance and instruction in a variety of styles, all free & open to the public.

Press release after the jump. (more…)

Dear PoPville,

I saw a kid get hit by a car Thursday night [around 11pm] on Connecticut Ave [and 18th St,NW] its is was pretty bad. Not sure if he survived and I can’t seem to find any coverage on it for some reason.

With that said I’ve complained to the city multiple times about the cross walk timers being off from one side of the four lane to the other side buy roughly 8 seconds. I knew this was going to be tragic one day and it just so happened Thursday night while I was standing right there.

Another reader writes:

“I saw a pedestrian on crutches get hit by a car in the crosswalk of Connecticut Ave. near Jefferson Pl around 11:00pm. He was in pretty bad shape and was eventually taken to the hospital. I tried to find information about what exactly happened and how the pedestrian is doing this morning, but was unable to find anything.”

Has anyone else seen any news reports or happen to know what happened?

March 2012. 1140 19th St, NW

Back in Dec. 2011 Via 19 added Pho DC in the former Mezze Luna space at 1140 19th St, NW. On Sunday I saw the signs had come down and workers were cleaning out the space. The space has an amazing patio out front so hopefully the next tenant will have better luck. Stay tuned.

I love the curve of the Dresden located at 2126 Connecticut Ave., NW.

From their Website:

Built in 1909 by Harry Wardman, the Georgian Revival-style Dresden deserves its coveted place among Washington’s “Best Addresses”. Converted in 1974 from rental apartments to condos, the building currently features 62 apartments of varied size with exquisite architectural details and a community of distinguished residents. Located in Northwest Washington, DC close to the Woodley Park Metro stop with its beautifully curved facade facing Connecticut Avenue and Kalorama Road, the Dresden offers a unique landmark in the area. The interior common areas boast original marble wainscoting, tile floors with Greek-key borders and wide public halls. Apartment interiors feature elaborate parquet floors and intricate plaster moldings. The rooftop garden, lovingly cared for by a resident grounds committee, offers a beautiful oasis from the bluster of city life.

Following Logan Circle’s temporary closure comes Dupont Circle tomorrow morning. From DDOT:

On Tuesday, February 28, at approximately 10 am, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily power down the traffic control signals located at Dupont Circle in Northwest Washington. The signals will be turned off for several hours to allow technicians to upgrade the traffic control signalization system. The signals will be turned on prior to the pm rush hour.

Dupont Circle is located at the intersection of 19th Street, P Street, New Hampshire Avenue, Massachusetts Avenue and Connecticut Avenue, NW.

Traffic control officers will be onsite to direct traffic through this area. Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians approaching and traveling through the circle are urged to use caution. Travelers may also want to consider alternate routes to avoid delays.

In contrast to the very large home that was recently profiled as a House Porn Edition of Good Deal or Not Revisited (GDoN-R), today’s subject property represents what one might find at the smaller end of the Dupont property spectrum. Of course, being Dupont and all, small does not necessarily equate with inexpensive.

3 Pizanos – pizza, subs, salads and gyros is coming to 1815 M St, NW (next to Ozio, west of Connecticut Ave) in March. Their facebook page says:

“Who loves authentic New York style pizza?! Not the wanna bee kind but the thin soft and crispy crust with just enough sauce and an awesome amount of oozing cheese ;o)~ drooooling…”

I’m cautiously optimistic.
