A reader passes on the below letter from the National Mall and Memorial Parks:
“The National Park Service (NPS) will clear the unsheltered encampment at McPherson Square on February 15, 2023, shifting the closure date up two months from the initial posted closure date of April 12, 2023. The updated closure date responds to the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services’ (DMHHS) January 9 request that NPS close the McPherson Square encampment on February 1 because high levels of illegal drug activity and other dangerous and unsafe activities significantly impede social services outreach and endanger social services providers, mental health clinicians, unsheltered individuals, and the public. Following DMHHS’ request, the NPS considered the recommendation of the United States Park Police (USPP) in determining the February 15 closure date. (more…)

The 19 & M Kung Fu Tea is completely cleared. It opened in 2018 and also had a tang noodle that shut down sometime in the last couple years.”

STK, “modern steakhouse and a chic lounge”, had a brief run back in 2014-2016 in Dupont at 1250 Connecticut Avenue, NW (RIP California Pizza Kitchen, currently home to City Tap House). A liquor license placard at the old Mike Isabella spot at the Marriott Marquis Hotel, for STK Steakhouse says:
“A class “C” steakhouse Restaurant with 100 seats inside the premises and a Total Occupancy Load of 213. Sidewalk Café with 76 seats and a Total Occupancy Load of 83. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Marshalls closed the location in the National Press building closed yesterday. I was surprised since it seemed fully stocked right before the holidays.”
Marshalls opened here in the former Filene’s Basement space back in 2013. (more…)
