Thanks to 9:30 Club for offering up two tickets to tomorrow’s Thievery show at the SW Wharf (Kastles Stadium) tomorrow.

As always just let me know why you want to go and I’ll pick a winner at 4pm!

Ed. Note: Last time a reader complained that I only picked heart wrenching stories that can’t possibly be beat by “normal people”. In addition to some heart warming winners, well, I’ve picked winners who’ve entered first, entered last, and other completely random picks. So fear not and good luck!

Also please make sure you have access to email at 4pm to confirm winning. If I don’t hear back in 15 minutes I’ll have to pick an alternate winner.

Yes, it’s a slow news day…but this is pretty sweet.

The reader writes:

“To get to work I take the metro out to College Park and then walk ~15 minutes into the middle of nowhere. I never see anyone, but most days last spring I ran into this family of geese somewhere along the way. So this video was a no-brainer.”

I don’t often get jealous but I’m already jealous of whoever wins this one…

“Dear PoP,

Last night my wife and I were walking through Dupont and came across a brass band playing in the intersection between PNC and Starbucks on the north side of the circle.

Good crowd around them as they played and in general they were very fun to watch and their energy was infectious. We did a little reserach when we got home, their name is the Brass Connection and they appear to be from North Carolina. I heard they were also playing the Dupont area Saturday. Anyone else see them?”
