Opera in the Outfield’s The Marriage of Figaro this Saturday at Nats Park

“Washington National Opera (WNO) celebrates the return of free opera simulcasts to Nationals Park with title sponsor Mars, Incorporated with the M&M’S® Opera in the Outfield performance of Mozart’s classic romantic comedy The Marriage of Figaro on Saturday, September 24, 2016. Gates open at 5 p.m. for “pregame” activities, and the opera will be broadcast live from the Kennedy Center Opera House to the high-definition NatsHD scoreboard at the ballpark at 7 p.m. Free seating will be available in the stands, while access to the outfield grass will be limited on a first-come, first-served basis when gates open at 5 p.m. More information, including a chance to RSVP to win prizes, is available at OperaintheOutfield.org.

“Farm Aid announced today that its annual food and music festival will take place on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Va., with tickets on sale to the public on Monday, June 27.

“Folks are educating themselves about where and how food is grown—they’re hungry for the truth,” said Farm Aid President and Founder Willie Nelson. “Family farmers bring us good food, protect our soil and water, and strengthen our country. The Farm Aid concert is a day for us to honor that truth and keep working for family farmers.”

This is going to sound Press-Releas-y, sorry, but I’m a real fan I promise. There’s a show tomorrow at 9:30 I’m really excited about and wanted to share with everyone, I think it could be special– This small band Atlas Road Crew from Charleston, SC that basically calls DC a second home (Their drummer, Patrick Drohan, is from the area). Over the past three years, they’ve grown in venue size from the Fairgrounds, to the Bayou, to selling out Gypsy Sally’s twice, and then selling out the Hamilton this past winter. It’s amazing to see them grow to 9:30, and yes, they get how big of an opportunity headlining the place is! Their sound is rooted in 70s-era southern rock, and luckily don’t get too jammy. Plus the shows are a party. Come out!

“The Jazz in the Garden Series begins its 16th season in May. The free concert series features jazz artists performing a wide variety of styles—salsa, blues fusion, xylophone, Afrofunk, and more—every Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:30 in the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden.

Guests may purchase food and beverages from the Pavilion Café and its carts located around the Garden or bring their own picnics. Alcoholic beverages may not be brought to the premises from outside and are subject to confiscation. Security officers reserve the right to inspect all items brought into the Sculpture Garden.

Outdoor Summer Concert Series Returns to U.S. Botanic Garden June 2nd

“The United States Botanic Garden is pleased to announce their popular American Roots Music Concert Series will be returning for 2016. The summer concert series, which the USBG first offered in 2015, celebrates American roots music – Americana and folk, country, blues, jazz, and even zydeco.

Concerts June through August will be held outdoors on the USBG Conservatory Terrace to enjoy the USBG’s summer garden exhibit Flourish Inside and Out (rain location inside the Conservatory in the Garden Court). September and October concerts will move indoors into the Conservatory’s Garden Court. All concerts are free of charge. Provided seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis or bring your own blanket or chair.

Fort Reno Summer Concert Series: “Shows will be happening in July once again this year”

Good news for Fort Reno fans:

“Hello everyone.

Things are moving along in preparation for the coming summer. Here is hoping that we are getting all the rain out of the way now!

Many of you have written about playing this year. I have done my best to keep track of the emails but Gmail sometimes has a mind of its own so feel free to get back in touch. Submissions can be mailed or dropped off between now and May 31. If you have any difficulty with getting in a physical demo package, let me know.
