From the Capitals:
“The Washington Capitals and Devils Backbone Brewing Company announced today Capit-Ale India Pale Ale, an easy drinking, hoppy brew. Beginning in September, 16 oz. cans will be available for purchase at Capital One Arena through the conclusion of the 2019-20 NHL season. The beverage will also be available on draft at select retail locations in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Capit-Ale will be available in two can designs, launching with a can featuring the Capitals mural installation at L’Enfant Plaza, designed by the Washington, D.C., based artists BroCoLoco. The Capitals partnered with BroCoLoco and local artists to install murals across several neighbors in the Washington, D.C., region. (more…)

Thanks to Jason for sending from the parking lot next to Chicken and Whiskey where Dacha was supposed to be opening a beer garden. I’m starting to hear rumors that those plans may have fallen through but I haven’t been able to confirm that yet. Anyone know the story behind this mural?

What’s up soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona? I spotted him last week on the side of the delicious Napoli Pasta Bar. [One of the club teams Maradona played for was Napoli.]
Yesterday Stacy was kind enough to send a bit of info about the artist:
“The piece was created by DC native Akeel Ali, also known as Black Frontiersmen, a local artist who has been working to beautify the neighborhood–and DC in general–with his art. His art can be seen on U Street and in Shaw, with more projects coming soon.” (more…)

“After a seven-year absence, G. Byron Peck’s Duke Ellington mural has returned to the exterior of the True Reformer Building at 1200 U Street NW.
The mural honors Ellington’s deep ties to the U Street Corridor and sits near his childhood home. Ellington played his first paid performance in the auditorium of the True Reformer Building where the mural now hangs. (more…)
