And indeed a spokesperson confirmed it to the Post: “We will not be showing any movies beyond March 6.”

“I just left E St Cinema, where the staff confirmed they’re closing. They said it’s not official yet but they’ll announce shortly.
They said first week of March.”
The Washington post reports:
“E Street Cinema, a popular local theater in Washington, D.C., will shutter its doors by March.”

This ensures better access for the Deaf community, which has had to deal with problematic closed-captioning devices.”

Update: ” Apparently there was a building issue — whatever it was it has been resolved. Apparently they have called back their staff and the theater should reopen later today.”

Other rumors are that Artechouse may be coming to/interested in the space…
Last we heard about plans back in 2023 was: Owners have “entered into a letter of intent with an “arts/theater group”…
