“Sameday Health Georgetown COVID Test Insurance Issue”

“Dear PoPville,

(TL;DR: Writing about a $500 insurance charge associated with a COVID test from Sameday Health in Georgetown – wondering if anyone else is having a similar experience.)

My previous insurance is attempting to charge me $500 for COVID test lab work from a test I took in July 2021, billed Feb 20, 2023 – nearly two years after the fact in addition to being covered under the CARES Act at the time. The insurance company claims I filed too late, but I never received any kind of documentation to submit – only an email from Sameday Health essentially saying “what you’ll get from your insurance isn’t a bill!” (more…)

My partner (a native Spanish speaker) is currently looking for a psychologist in the DMV. I know she can’t be the only one looking for a psychologist conversant in her native language. Does anyone have recommendations for a Spanish-speaking psychologist, preferably in the District? Bonus points if they take insurance! Thank you.”

“DC Health Announces COVID Centers Will Close on March 31”

Ed. Note: On February 28th DC Health suspended “COVID-19 Test Yourself DC self-service kiosk program as well as rapid test distribution at libraries and senior centers”.

From DC Health:

“Today, DC Health announced that the last day of operations for the COVID Centers will be Friday, March 31. The decision to close the COVID Centers comes after the District has experienced a significant drop in COVID-19 cases, high vaccination uptake, and an increase in the availability of vaccines and testing kits for at-home use. Similar actions are being taken at the federal level and by other jurisdictions around the nation. The COVID Centers were established in January 2022 to provide residents with free and easy access to COVID-19 vaccines, testing, and masks at the height of the pandemic. Today, these items are readily available at most pharmacies, doctor’s offices, and other community locations. (more…)

Starting Tuesday, DC Health suspending “COVID-19 Test Yourself DC self-service kiosk program as well as rapid test distribution at libraries and senior centers”

“DC Health announced that beginning Tuesday, February 28, 2023 they will suspend the COVID-19 Test Yourself DC self-service kiosk program as well as rapid test distribution at libraries and senior centers. These changes are in line with similar actions at the federal level as a result of falling COVID-19 case counts and the increased availability of testing and vaccine opportunities through medical offices, pharmacies and community health centers.

DC Health continues to emphasize that the most important thing residents can do to protect themselves and their families from COVID-19 is to be up to date with their vaccinations and boosters.
