Alright Enough About The Wind It’s Time To Talk About the Insane “Dog waste incident” in Woodley Park

You’re either drunk or bored by now so enjoy this bit of March mishigas from the Cleveland Park listserv:

“8:15 this morning [Thursday] I was retrieving my supercan to put it in the garage. 2600 block Woodley Place. A middle-aged man in a red jacket walking his black and white bulldog dropped a bag of dog waste in an already emptied supercan.

I picked it out and chased after him to inform him We do NOT do that in this neighborhood, and take it with him.

He of course was obnoxious and refused. I threw it trying to hit him in the head. (I’m obnoxious too).

A police cruiser happened to be coming along, asked them to catch up with him. Of course they’re not much interested.

I do have photos of him and his dog I am happy to share with you. Do you know who this is? Where he lives?”

My favorite reply:

“I’d also like to think that we don’t throw bags of dog sh*t at other people’s heads in this neighborhood, regardless of the provocation.”

“I am including the official police report so that the facts are clear and as complete as possible at this time:

“MPD is currently investigating an Armed Carjacking (Gun) that occurred in 3100 block of 36th Street, NW in the Second District at approximately 10:50 PM last night. The victim reported that he was sitting in his vehicle at the listed location when he was approached by three suspects, at least one of whom was armed with a handgun. The victim was forcibly removed from the vehicle and thrown to the ground. One of the suspects stole the complainant’s wallet and attempted to steal his phone. One of the suspects fired a gunshot in an unknown direction while fleeing. The suspects then fled in the victim’s vehicle and were last seen traveling eastbound in the 3500 block of Lowell Street, NW. The victim was obviously a little shook up but he did not report any physical injury and refused medical attention from DCFEMS on the scene. Responding officers broadcasted a citywide lookout for the victim’s vehicle which was later spotted in the Seventh District on Southern Avenue, SE. Seventh District officers attempted to stop the vehicle at which time the vehicle fled and crashed into another vehicle in the 1500 block of Mississippi Avenue, SE. The occupants of the vehicle then fled on foot and escaped. This case is currently being investigated by detectives from the Second District. Mayahuel Cocina Mexicana coming to former Bar Civita (Murphy’s) space in Woodley Park

Bar Civita closed back in July. Previously this was home to Murphy’s, which still leaves a bit of a whole in my heart. Anyway, next up is Mayahuel Cocina Mexicana:

Shots Fired 9:30 pm in Woodley Park Friday Night, One juvenile arrested

We had a big discussion about this as it was happening on twitter last night. Here’s the official report from MPD:

“At approximately 9:30 pm this evening, officers from the Second District responded to the area of the 2800 block of Connecticut Avenue, NW for reports of gunfire. While canvassing the area, they located three juveniles. One of the juveniles was in possession of a handgun and was placed under arrest. There were no injuries related to this incident.”

Update from MPD:

“I wanted to take the time to both acknowledge the excellent work of our 2D officers and to dispel the rumors of a shooting last week. As indicated in the post below, officers responded to the sounds of gunshots in the 2800 Block of Connecticut Avenue on Friday night. There was no shooting and the ” gun ” that was recovered was found to be a starter pistol that fired blanks. Although this starter pistol is most commonly associated with track meets, any use outside of an authorized event is strictly prohibited.

The Klingle Valley Trail is especially Awesome in Autumn

And the trail is especially awesome right now.

“The new 0.7-mile paved trail was constructed with repurposed material from the formally washed out Klingle Road and marks the first time the city has converted a road into a trail just for bicyclists and pedestrians.”

The trail was “constructed along the closed section of Klingle Road NW from just east of Cortland Place to one block west of Porter Street. The trail will continue along the Ramp to Beach Drive and will connect to the Rock Creek Park Multi-Use Trail. The project falls within the Cleveland Park, Woodley Park, and Mount Pleasant neighborhoods.”

Woodley Park: “9:38 pm, four suspects approached the victim and assaulted her then took her personal property”

“Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District seek the public’s assistance in identifying four persons of interest in reference to a Robbery (Force and Violence) offense which occurred in the 2500 block of Woodley Road, Northwest, on Thursday, November 16, 2017.

At approximately 9:38 pm, four suspects approached the victim and assaulted her. The suspects then took her personal property and fled the scene.

A nearby surveillance camera captured four persons of interest in this case. They can be seen in this video (above.)

Anyone who has information regarding this case should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”
