Meghan and Allison let’s us know: “Heard a lot of big booms this morning…is it cannon practice day at Arlington National Cemetery?”

“Yes, @PoPville, we know. Cannons, Arlington, practice, etc.”

And last night readers reported starting around 9:45pm: “FYI, there was just an explosion somewhere around Delafield and Georgia. No idea what it was, but I heard/felt it at 13th and Delafield”

“Wtf is happening in Petworth/16th St Heights??? Copters, sirens, loud bang.”

“Dear PoPville,

My name is Mathilde. Yesterday I lost my grandmother’s wedding ring. I am heartbroken because it was a memento from her: she passed 2 years ago.

The ring was on a chain that broke. I realized the chain had broken around 6:30pm in Brookland. The ring was not there anymore. I checked the 2 places I stopped at, and couldn’t find it, so I suspect the chain broke either when I walked from Rosslyn to Clarendon metro stations, on Wilson and Fairfax boulevards on Sunday 12/6 between about 3 and 5pm or when I took the metro from Brookland to Rosslyn (red line from Brookland CUA to Metro Center and then orange line from Metro Center to Rosslyn) from 2pm to 2:30 the same day. “

Should anyone have happened to found a ring yesterday at the listed locations please email me at [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch with OP. Thank you.

“Dear PoPville,

Not sure if this is being encountered in DC or not, but I wanted to make readers aware of something that’s been going on in Crystal City. For the past month or so these homemade white nationalist stickers have been showing up on parking meters along a one mile stretch of road. Each is different and each is equally disturbing/offensive (these are examples of some of the tamer ones–with offensive language blacked out). Read More

I know Union Station isn’t Orange/Yellow I just liked this photo by angela n.

From WMATA:

“Making the most of historically low ridership and traffic-free highways, Metro today announced plans to combine the schedules of its two biggest capital priorities in Virginia: rebuilding platforms and connecting the Silver Line to Metro’s existing network.

Under the expanded plan, Metro will combine this summer’s work demolishing and reconstructing platforms at four Orange Line stations with a separate project on the Silver Line to connect Metrorail to the new “phase II” stations, which are being constructed by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA).

The resulting summer shutdown will close a total of nine stations from Memorial Day weekend through the fall. Read More
