From an email:

“We are planning an outdoor-focused fun concept with guest seating exclusively outside. Full bar with local beers only. It’ll be breezy and relaxed overall with a large awning that is open on all sides. Still working through the various applications, design, naming and permit processes. Hoping to open sometime this summer!”

Readers reported: “sounded like a bunch of shots at 14th near U 5 min ago, now several police cars there.”

“U and 14th NW at 1:45 a.m. Wasn’t fireworks. Shots may have hit a vehicle.”

Three shots fired by a moving car at another car at 14th and U NW. I don’t think anyone was injured the driver got out as police pulled up. Cops checked the car that was shot at for weapons asked fir a description then half of the police jumped in their cars going down u street towards Shaw (eastward)
I think the bullets struck the bank and door to a yoga studio.”

“I heard the whole thing and it was definitely more than 3 shots.”

“About 10 shots fired last night at 14th and U. And they came fast enough that it had to be at least two guns.”

Thanks to Noa and others for sending: “The Peet’s Coffee on 14th was closed all of the pandemic and I just walked by today and it no longer looks like they might re open. All the signs of Peet’s are gone and the windows have paper in them.”

Sadly we learned that they’d be permanently closing over the summer. This Peet’s Coffee opened here, in the former Vastu space, back in 2016.

“Due to increased demand for our sushi at Nama, we’ve decided to open a second location! We are super excited to announce the opening of Nama 14, an outpost inside of Tico on 14th st. While this location is different in address, the Nama quality you expect is exactly the same! Chef Young Oh, K Street’s beloved sushi chef, oversees Nama 14’s new sushi menu. (more…)
