Apparently people like vaping. New vape lounges seem to be opening up all over the place. I’ve now seen them in Adams Morgan, H Street NE, Petworth, and Georgetown. Any others?
Out of curiosity do any readers vape?

“Dear PoPville,
I saw the item about the demolition at 13 & U, NW. I live near 12th & U and walk by there pretty regularly. The upper, more sun-bleached part of the mural was uncovered a week or so ago while the demolition was still underway. Then just a couple days ago the lower half of the mural, much brighter in color because it had been completely walled over, began to appear as workers slowly chipped away at the wall of the adjoining building.
Would be interesting to know when these were painted and the story behind them. Pretty sure that the building that housed Rite Aid and a few other shops was built in the 1980s, give or take, so obviously this mural pre-dates that. All I know for sure is that when we moved to the area in 2000 the Rite Aid building was there.”

Thanks to all who sent emails and tweets:
“U Scoot – corner of Vermont & U. I walk past every day and just noticed it yesterday (after being gone this weekend). I did a quick google but didn’t find anything.”
I stopped in yesterday but the owner was with a customer – (grand opening soon) – here’s a peek inside:

The last untouched corner at 14th and Florida Ave, NW – goes down. Thanks to a reader for sending:
“Florida Liquors, open as recently Saturday now closed. Saw demo crews carrying out fixtures yesterday.”
A yelp reviewer writes:
“the selection is slim, the teller is behind bulletproof glass, and there’s always someone standing out front panhandling”
Updates when we learn more about plans for the corner.

Oh let this be true!!
“I heard from an Apple store representative in Georgetown that they’re opening an Apple Store in the”U St corridor area”.
Any guesses where?
Ed. Note: This is the same way we first heard about the Trader Joe’s now at 14th and U so I’ll be cautiously optimistic!

“Dear PoPville,
Not sure what is going on here, but the owners appear to be building an elevated deck and privacy walls on their townhouse. To add to the “fun,” they have decided to incorporate a “burst of color” with bright blues and oranges. Never thought anything would become more eye catching than the much-maligned “middle finger” pop-up (which shares this alley) but this deck is giving it a run for it’s money.”
