A reader reports (thanks to all messaged):
“Shooting on N St on August 26th
The shooting happened around 11 am on N Street NW between North Capitol and 1st Street. It was closer to 1st Street than North Cap (the police recovered a lot of shell casings on the corner of N and 1st).
I was in my backyard when the shooting happened. There were 2 or 3 shots followed by a barrage of shots. Initially I thought it was gunfire, but then there were so many occurring so fast I thought, “No, this HAS to be fireworks.” Some other neighbors I talked to later thought the same thing.
I talked to a neighbor that lives on N street. He said he was leaving to go to the dry cleaners and saw a group of teenagers on N Street who were very animated. Their behavior made him so uncomfortable that he actually called the police BEFORE the shooting asking them to send a patrol car by the area to disperse the kids. I’m not sure if he knows this from talking to other neighbors or the police, but he told he that 9 people in total called the police before the shooting.
I do not know how many shooters there were. The above neighbor told me he knew of one kid being arrested. From the shell casings and bullet holes, it looks like at least one person was on the corner of 1st and N street (dot in “shooter location” attached) shooting back down and across N Street (dot in “target area of shooter”). In the “target area”, there were numerous bullet holes in two vehicles (including Robin’s), a street sign, and the house of the neighbor mentioned above. A third car on the same side of the street as the shooter(s?) also had a bullet hole.”

A reader reports:
“At about 9:00PM Sunday night a DUI driver crashed into multiple vehicles in the area of NJ Ave & R St NW. The incident began as a routine fenderbender – a white Acura sedan rear ended a blue sedan heading northbound on NJ Ave. After the initial collision (which caused a chain reaction crash – more on that later) things took a turn…the white Acura attempted to leave the scene, ramming the blue sedan a second time!
After realized the continuing on NJ was no longer viable, the white Acura reversed several feet down NJ Avenue. They they rapidly accelerated and attempted a left turn onto Warner St. He lost control however, striking a parked silver sedan. The white Acura still wasn’t done (more…)

“ANXO Cidery & Pintxos Bar turns one year old this Thursday, July 13th. We invite DC to celebrate a year of hundreds of kegs, thousands of pintxo toothpicks, and a little spilled cider.
We start the day at 3:00pm with an extended happy hour (half off all pintxos and select drinks), and then continue with a free Txotx (the Basque practice of catching cider straight from the barrel) on the patio. We’ll have every ANXO collaboration cider to dateavailable, as well as some special draft beers selected by Beer Director and Designer Cooper Sheehan. Our friends Potter’s Craft Cider and Commonwealth Brewing will have collaborations on offer as well.
We’ll also be grilling various meats and veggies, in addition to introducing our new summer dining menu from Executive Chef Alex Vallcorba. (more…)
