Last week, GDoN-R reported on the sale of a duplex condo in Columbia Heights/Park View that settled with a $503. price per square foot. The subject property of this post is also an upper duplex condo in NW DC, located further south and east (in Shaw near the O Street Market Development) in relation to last week’s, and sold at $524. per square foot. While it might not seem like much of a difference, that extra $20. or so per square foot can mean a few tens of thousands of dollars to the Seller. (more…)

3rd and Florida Ave, NW, vacant For-EVAH

A few folks have been asking and Jason reminded me this morning:

“any word on the place at 3rd & florida across from anxo? used to have a lease sign up but doesn’t anymore, and looks like construction inside.”

I took some photo last weekend and it definitely looks like a bar is sketched out on the floor. Anyone hear any scuttlebutt about the plans here?

what’s that old sign above the door say?

1st and O Street, NW

“Dear PoPville,

Since moving to Shaw at the end of last year, I’ve loved having access to the Dunbar High School track on weekends for my runs. However, the past couple times I’ve tried to access the track (mid morning on Saturdays), most recently yesterday, the turnstile on O Street has been locked. Any idea if this is just an oversight, a change in hours, or a change in policy?”

Ed. Note: We’ve spoken about the Dunbar Pool here.

300 Florida Ave, NW

From a press release:

“ANXO Cidery & Pintxos Bar and Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. (PPMW) celebrate International Women’s Day with “A Wild Night: The Story of Basandere,” an evening of ciders, cocktails and women’s health initiatives on Thursday, March 8th from 7:00-9:00 PM at the ANXO Cidery & Pintxos Bar (300 Florida Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20001).

Founded with inspiration from Basque Country and a passion for cider, ANXO brings culinary and beverage delights to the District in a unique setting.

‘A Wild Night’ features Basandere, or ‘Wild Woman,’ a protector of nature in Basque mythology. In conjunction with International Women’s Day, PPMW and ANXO Cidery & Pintxos Bar hope to bring people together to lift up the DC community in support of women all over the world.

Members of PPMW’s Developing Leader Program, a 9-month program designed to train the next generation of leaders in the reproductive rights movement, will help execute the event, which will feature women’s health initiatives like PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis). PrEP is a once-daily pill taken to prevent your risk of contracting HIV by 90%. (more…)
