Two Shot in Trinidad, One Stabbed in Brookland

At 2127 hours [Sunday], officers of the Fifth District were dispatched to the 1000 block of Bladensburg Road,NE for a shooting. 3 victims were sitting in a car when the suspect shot at them in the vehicle. Two of the victims were struck with non-life threating injuries. Suspect was described as a black male, with long black hair and dreads, about 5’8″ tall slim build. Last seen fleeing the scene on foot. This is currently under investigation, if anyone has seen or has any information in reference to this incident please call 911.

Police say the victim was on his way to Little Ricky’s restaurant on 12th Street just after 6 p.m. When he parked his car on Otis and 10th streets and got out, one of the suspects approached him from the front; the other came from behind. Without warning or provocation, one suspect stabbed the victim in the chest.

With the knife still lodged in his upper chest, the victim continued to the restaurant, where his friends called 911.

Death Investigation in the 1300 block of Childress Street, NE

Today, Thursday, February 7, 2013,shortly before 8 am, Fifth District officers were called to the 1300 block of Childress Street, NE, for a report of an unconscious person.

When officers arrived they found an adult male in a playground area. The man was dead at the scene. Homicide detectives are on the scene working to determine how and when the man died.

Shots Fired on Plain Clothes Police Officers’ Vehicle in Trinidad, Suspect Arrested

On Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 7:15pm, MPD plain clothes officers were in the 1600 block of Montello Ave. NE. in an unmarked vehicle when they observed suspicious activity. As they approached the two subjects one of them fired at the unmarked vehicle. The suspects fled but were apprehened, the police did not discharge their weapons. There were no injuries to MPD members.

MPD updates the Dec. 22nd double shooting in Trinidad:

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a double shooting in the 1100 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast, in which a second victim has died from his injuries.

On Saturday, December 22, 2012, at approximately 1:44 am, members of the Fifth District responded to a call for the report of a shooting in the 1100 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast. Upon their arrival, members located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds lying in the roadway. Members of the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services treated the victim who had no signs consistent with life. He was transported to the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pending an autopsy.

The decedent is identified as 44-year-old Raymond Harris of Northwest, Washington, DC.

Fifth District members also located a second adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds in a vehicle in 1100 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast. The second victim was transported to a local hospital and admitted in critical condition.

On Sunday, December 23, 2012 at approximately 8:44 am, the second victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The second decedent is identified as 69-year-old Nathaniel Beasley, Jr of Southeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.

MPD wrote this morning:

“This morning, Saturday, December 22, 2012, at about 1:45 am, 5D officers were called to a scene in the 1100 block of Bladensburg Road, NE, for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the men was lifeless at the scene. The second man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

At this point we have no further information to release, but we ask that anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area at that time please call 727-9099 to report it.”

That Was Fast – New Brewpub, Bardo, Coming to 1200 Bladensburg Road, NE Already Gets Liquor License. Now Raising Money.

Back in early October we learned that the Bardo brewpub hoped to reopen on a big lot at 1200 Bladensburg Road, NE. Things are rapidly progressing.

We have recently purchased a Beeutiful vacant lot in N.E. D.C., near the H. St. party corridor, in preparation for re-opening Bardo. The liquor license has been approved and construction plans have been submitted to the city. Construction is slated to start in December 2012. Plans for the bar include self serve taps, 500 outdoor seats, a funky building made from shipping containers, and the biggest brewery in the DC area. Bardo Rodeo operated in the 90’s as the largest brewpub in the country. The 22000 sq. ft. facility included 900 indoor & 700 outdoor seats and a 25-barrel brewhouse. As one of the first bars in the Clarendon neighborhood in Arlington VA, Bardo brewed 4000 kegs a year and enjoyed thousands of visitors each weekend. Indigogo provides the opportunity for Bardo to raise money to fund the project.

It’s like paying half price for the beer now but drinking it later.

Bardo currently has 300K in cash and 300K in brewing equipment but we need to raise another 150K (to do the custom programming on the Self-Serve Beer Setup). The liquor license application out front says:

“New Tavern, Brewpub with microwave nachos, outdoor BBQ grill for Summer Garden. Total number of seats inside is 98, Summer Garden with 251 seats, and a total Occupancy Load of 349.”
