From the Bravest at Engine Company 24:

“It’s a 2018 Seagrave Capitol Cab. The cab was designed specially for, and by the DCFD. It has a Cummins diesel big block with an Allison transmission. It carries 500 gallons of water and a 1500 gallons per minute Waterous pump. Our old 2006 Seagrave Marauder will go into the reserve fleet, so you may see our Petworth decals around the city with a different Engine number on it. Photos by various 24 Engine Company members. [5101 Georgia Ave. NW]”

3632 Georgia Avenue, NW

Here’s who’s coming to the former Walters near Looking Glass and DC Reynolds on Georgia Ave just south of the Petworth metro.

The liquor license placard for Marrakech says:

“New Class “C” Tavern specializing in Moroccan cuisine with 62 seats inside and a 20 seat Summer Garden, for a total of 82 seats and a Total Occupancy of 100. The licensee is requesting an Entertainment Endorsement to include Live Entertainment, Dancing, and Cover Charge.”

Anyone know if this is the same folks who used to be on P Street in Dupont?

Ed. Note: This is in addition to Tsehay Ethiopian Restaurant coming down the block to 3630 Georgia Avenue, NW.

STAY TUNED.

Ed. Note: I think it’s just a shortcut to the construction site staging area on Piney Branch. Or is it something more nefarious?

“Dear PoPville,

Just moved to the bottom of the hill on 14th and Taylor. Been seeing TONS of men go in and out of the woods off of Piney Branch where Rock Creek, Taylor, Arkansas all converge.

Not sure what they’re doing, doesn’t ever seem sexual or violent. Hated to do this, but called the cops when I saw one (when he was solo) looking through my bathroom window from down below in the woods.

Just now, I saw three men coming out of the woods from the same spot in my back alley off of Shepard.

What is this? Drugs? Prostitution ring? Homelessness? Mental illness?”

4203 Georgia Avenue, NW

I’ve always wondered how this space could still be vacant at such a prime corner. Think a cigar bar will do well here?

The liquor license placard says:

“New Class “C” Tavern that will serve as a cigar retailer serving spirits, wine, and beer in addition to tobacco products and other cigar-related products. The Tavern will have 100 seats inside, and a Total Occupancy Load of 100, and also a Summer Garden with 10 seats. Licensee is requesting an indoors-only Entertainment Endorsement to provide Live Entertainment.”

Park Place apartments at New Hampshire and Georgia Ave, NW technically 850 Quincy St, NW

No, I’ve never actually heard of Burgerim but this damn retail space has been vacant for so long – I’m marking this as a win!! Also, burgers!!

Michael Neibauer reported on twitter:

“Pending BZA special exception approval, D.C.’s first Burgerim franchise is planned for 850 Quincy St. NW, at the corner of Rock Creek Church Road and Georgia Ave.”

So I think this is the big space with the curve at New Hampshire and Georgia pictured above. Anyway Burgerim’s website says:

“Burgerim is an international fast casual franchise with a shiny new concept. (more…)
