C. writes: “A building undergoing work for underpinnings had an unintended collapse. About 2pm was the major collapse. I walked past maybe 20 minutes before and noticed a large whole in the exterior brick wall and noticed workers were digging a ditch beside the house. Back in March we learned that Qualia Coffee “decided to shelve plans to rebuild and reopen the shop at 3917 Georgia Ave.” A new bar called Snappy’s will be taking over the space.
The liquor license placard for Snappy’s says:

My wife Jean and I want to send a big thank you to all of the people on Shepherd Street NW for PorchFest on Saturday April 29. Our 13-month old Jack had a simple febrile seizure, and gave his parents quite a panic. We want to let the community know how grateful we were for your help calling 911 and keeping us calm. And we want to especially thank Dr. Christina Baviskar for stepping in and helping us. Jack is doing great and has made a speedy recovery. (more…)
