“Dear PoPville,

I think I had an encounter (Thursday) with “coffee guy,” the one who approaches women pretending to be from somewhere else, asks about coffee places, then tries to pressure you into a coffee date.

I was leaving my office and he approached me at the intersection of 10th and G NW. He asked me where Tatte was, because I “look like the kind of person with the swagger to go there.” (more…)

Ed. Note: We first heard about Dead Rabbit expanding to DC back in October 2023. The space was previously home to Pi Pizzeria which abruptly closed in September 2023. If this thing really is dead, on behalf of many, BRING BACK Pi Pizzeria!!

Pre and post storm I’m still getting questions about the status of Dead Rabbit: “Random other question, any intel on dead rabbit actually opening?” Back in September when we looked into this we were told they were still coming. ICYMI, March 8th 2024: District Chophouse closes after 25+ years in Gallery Place/Penn Quarter.

For a hot second the space was planned on becoming Lagos DC, “serving West African cuisine”…

“Dear PoPville,

Whilst checking on an Amazon delivery for a package today, Amazon also provides a map of the delivery location. That map also reflected a place called “Bourbon Boulevard DC” along 7th St NW, at the previous location of the District Chophouse and Brewery – which closed a few years ago. I live nearby and was curious. (more…)

From a press release:

PubKey, the celebrated Greenwich Village “Bitcoin bar” where conversations around the future of sound money, monetary policy and technology flow as easily as the drinks, will open its much-anticipated DC flagship location at 410 Seventh St. NW in Penn Quarter on Dec. 19.

The two-story space will allow PubKey DC to bring to life a welcoming, irreverent pub with a media studio, event stage and speaker series on cutting-edge topics across freedom tech and policy, a private dining room, community events such as trivia and karaoke and chophouse-style restaurant opening in the new year, all under a single roof.

Inspired by the historical role of taverns as free-thinking hotbeds for revolutions, (more…)
