That was fast. Tibet Shop only just opened last November. A liquor license application posted out front says:

“Licensee transferring from 3210 Georgia Avenue NW to the new location at 3213 Georgia Avenue, NW.”

3213 Georgia Ave, NW is home to Petworth liquors. One reader writes:

“Some folks in the neighborhood (myself included) are not thrilled about the move, given many of the issues associated with the business (littering, serving to intoxicated patrons who stand and drink outside and threaten passersby, etc)…”

Petworth Liquors is currently located across the street from the Tibet Shop:

Back in January 2013 we learned of plans for a new restaurant and bar called The Hilltop, coming to the corner of Girard and Sherman Avenue, NW.

From owner Sam Jahanbeen:

The Hilltop needs your help! We’re going in front of the Board of Zoning Adjustments to get a special exception – it’s the final step that’ll allow us to open our (and your) new neighborhood restaurant. It’s an easy process but its very important that we show the neighborhood has our back. With that said, if you have moment – please print, sign, and return this letter of support (below). If possible please send them no later than June 14th, 2013.

Thanks for supporting us – and we look forward to seeing you on opening day!

Digging has begun at the corner of Georgia and Kenyon Street, NW. It will be a five story apartment building:

But the Sherman Avenue street project turned out awesome. I remember folks had concerns that it would be going from two lanes to one but in my recent experiences it flows nicely. Do you guys like the way it turned out? Does it function well?

Potentially huge news for Georgia Ave. Thanks to a reader for sending word that the former Enterprise Theatre & Jazz Lounge is going to become a tavern. But it’s much better than that – I hear it will be called Bravo Lounge and they plan on serving deli food. If it’s true deli food this could be huge. Stay tuned.
