From MPD:

“On September 28, 2013, at approximately 8:30PM, two complainants were in the 600 block of Otis Place, NW, when they heard gunshots. Both complainants ran away from the sounds, and shortly afterward they both discovered that they had been shot. Both received non life-threatening injuries and were transported to local area hospitals for treatment. The only lookout provided was for a black male armed with a handgun who was last seen fleeing in an older-model blue SUV.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call (202) 727-9099.”

Thanks to all who’ve written in:

“Just got in from work and see this fire burning on the roof of the factory next to the lofts on Lamont…

It was pretty ugly a few minutes ago but seems to be under control now.

Three are 5-6 fire trucks and a dozen or so firemen in the scene. The block is currently closed to traffic. No word on injuries.”

and

“The DCFD are responding to a fire in the 700 block of Lamont St. I was working on my front porch on Keefer Pl. when I looked up and saw smoke coming over the roof of the new building on the SW corner of Lamont and Georgia, shortly after a helicopter came over from the medical center and EMS started to arrive, they had it out in less than 15 minutes. Very cool to watch, they put firefighters on the roofs of all the surrounding buildings to fight it and keep it from spreading, they are starting to clear out now.”

@IAFF36 reported:

“Update – 700blk Lamont St NW – 1-story warehouse, fire in cockloft, extinguished, checking for extension, 2nd alarm staging”

“Dear PoPville,

Yesterday morning I walked past The House, the strip club by EL Haynes on Georgia Ave, and some workers there told me they’re removing the famous sign (happy hour every day- GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS) from the roof. I’m surprisingly sad to see it go- I’ve always given it as a landmark to friends walking to my house. The men I spoke to didn’t know if the sign would be upgraded/replaced.”

That was fast. Tibet Shop only just opened last November. A liquor license application posted out front says:

“Licensee transferring from 3210 Georgia Avenue NW to the new location at 3213 Georgia Avenue, NW.”

3213 Georgia Ave, NW is home to Petworth liquors. One reader writes:

“Some folks in the neighborhood (myself included) are not thrilled about the move, given many of the issues associated with the business (littering, serving to intoxicated patrons who stand and drink outside and threaten passersby, etc)…”

Petworth Liquors is currently located across the street from the Tibet Shop:
