Update from an email: “The construction at Hook Hall is unrelated to the Holiday Market. The Holiday Market will be held inside of Hook Hall just like last year. I believe the Hook Hall construction outside will be ongoing for the next few weeks/month…” Ed. Note: Updates when we learn what theme is coming next regarding the construction.

“The Park View Market is bringing back their artisan-focused holiday market series this December at Hook Hall. Featuring items from local artists, makers, and specialty food producers, the Park View Holiday Market will once again serve as a hub for the community to shop local, support small businesses, and find unique gifts during the holiday season. “terrible intersection design at Georgia Ave and Park Rd NW”

“Dear PoPville,

Can we please discuss the terrible intersection design at Georgia Ave and Park Rd NW? The signage and signals make it so unclear what drivers should do and I witness daily road rage incidents because of it.

Are drivers supposed to come to a complete stop after turning onto Georgia Ave since they are immediately presented with a red light and you typically aren’t allowed to turn left across traffic on a red? Some drivers come to an immediate stop once they turn right onto Georgia Ave, which angers drivers behind them, and I’ve seen some of those angry drivers speed around the stopped cars (more…)

Three Injured in early morning fire in Columbia Heights/Park View near Georgia Ave

Nick reported: “Fire response just before 4 am on the 700 block of Hobart Pl NW.”

From DC Fire and EMS: “1 firefighter minor injury is being transported from the fire scene in the 700 block Hobart Pl. NW. The 3rd civilian who was evaluated on scene has subsequently also been transported with non life threatening injuries.”

Here’s what happened: there is a young, white woman, probably in her late 20s or early 30s going door to door in Park View (at least as far as I know) to ask people to see their gas and electricity bills, claiming that someone in our block had gone over the usage limit or something like that. 9 foot tall fence (and pond) not enough to deter bike theft

“Dear PoPville,

I had my priority continuum onyx stolen last night on the 700 block of Park Road NW (Park View). It was in our backyard (behind our 9 ft tall fence!) hidden behind our cars. Someone had to see into our backyard well enough to 1) jump the fence, 2) get it back over the 9 ft tall fence, and 3) navigate the small pond we have back there (which looks like they got pretty wet).
