Hoy moly, thanks to Dominic for sending the action at DC’s first “French-Canadian Disco”:
“Le Mont Royal. 10:10pm Friday night.
They must have been handing out Taylor Swift tickets.
There was a small line of maybe 10 people around 8:30pm and they were taking names and numbers. We were told it would be 45min. By 9:30pm it looked like this. We never got a call. A good crowd and good drinks at Grand Duchess met the moment.”
Check out the video to see how far the line stretches: (more…)

Thanks to C. for sending: “Small section on north side of park is roped off and has a fresh layer of sod. Let’s hope park service covers the entire lawn!”
Ed. Note: I recently asked NPS about the status of the fountains at the park and was told:
“we aren’t certain about spring 2023 for turning on the fountains. It will be dependent what short-term fixes are needed, but we are hopeful. The bigger rehabilitation need has been scoped and funding for that hasn’t been identified as of yet.”

“Dear PoPville,
I had been meaning to email you to ask about left hand turns because it’s been bugging me for months. Someone posted a question about this on Greater Petworth the other day, and the community seems pretty divided about the issue. The fact that drivers can’t agree makes it very dangerous.
I went through the DMV Driver’s Manual and couldn’t find anything about it. I tried to find a place to ask a question on the DMV’s website, but the pulldown menu options didn’t match what I needed.
P.S. I think it’s the top option!”

From a press release:
“Le Mont Royal, a “French-Canadian disco”, is swinging into the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, D.C. at 1815 Adams Mill Rd NW on Friday, January 6th. Chas Jefferson and Bart Hutchins, D.C. hospitality industry friends who bonded over their favorite spots in Montreal and Paris, are the duo behind the concept. Le Mont Royal cranks up the conviviality and maximalism they found themselves craving in a post-COVID world to deliver a natural wine and neo-bistro food-fueled party. Nights at Le Mont Royal will be set to the soundtrack of DJs spinning their house collection of soul, funk, and disco vinyls. Le Mont Royal will be open from 4 PM to midnight on Sunday-Monday and Wednesday-Thursday (closed Tuesday) and 4 PM to 2 AM on Friday and Saturday.
