Petite Cerise, a new concept from Jeremiah Langhorne and Alex Zink of D.C.’s highly lauded The Dabney, is set to open its doors tomorrow, Tuesday, March 14.

Translated to “little cherry,” the highly anticipated restaurant provides guests with French-inspired, all-day dining influenced by their travels and love of classic French technique. From MPD: “4D Stabbing. The Fourth District is investigating a stabbing that occurred on 3/12/23 at approximately 4:34 P.M. in the unit block of Grant Circle NW. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the body. The look for the suspect is an Hispanic Male wearing a green jacket and black pants. The suspect was last seen running northbound in the 4400 block of New Hampshire Ave NW.

From MPD: “Alert: Shooting Investigation at 2022 hrs. in the 400 block of 11th Street, SE. No Lookout at this time.”

A reply to MPD said: “The shooting started in the 900 block, but the car wreck and more shooting in the 500 block.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, March 12, 2023, in the 500 block of 11th Street, Southeast.

At approximately 8:25 pm, First District officers responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting and a traffic accident. Upon arrival, officers located two adult male shooting victims inside of a vehicle. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life, one of the victims remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The second victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the second victim was pronounced dead. A third male, who was in the vehicle with the victims, was located at the scene. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the traffic crash.

One of the decedents has been identified as 34-year-old Othaniel Gaither, of Southeast, DC. The second decedent’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification. (more…)

Just walked by the Glosslab on Connecticut Ave NW in Dupont, and they have the windows papered up, and no signs of action inside. Weird, since they just opened this location a few months ago. And I believe they closed temporarily last month due to a health code violation. Renovating? Or closed for good?”

“Dear PoPville,

I’ve been stymied as I try to figure out what this is – a very carefully-constructed big window display for the “Green Paint Shop” close to City Lights, around 1735 Connecticut. Internet searches turn up nothing, except for one Reddit conversation saying it had been covered in PoPville. Somebody clearly put a lot of work into this, and all I know for sure is that it’s not a paint shop. The display includes MANY cans, each with a different label. (more…)
