“Norton Introduces Bill to Designate D.C. Neighborhoods in Need of Investment as Empowerment Zones”

“Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today reintroduced a bill that would add the District of Columbia to the national empowerment zone program to provide federal tax incentives for businesses to locate and invest in low-income areas in the District. This bill would effectively restore many of the federal tax incentives for investment in low-income D.C. neighborhoods that a Norton bill created in 1997, but that Congress let expire in 2011. Now that the fountain is fixed – how about “benches at Dupont Circle – in complete disarray”

Are there any known plans to rehab the benches around the fountain at Dupont Circle? Seeing the benches in complete disarray is heartbreaking. The circle has been a part of my entire 30+ years here in DC. I’d rather have benches than a working fountain. Maybe we could have both?”

City Bikes buildings in Tenleytown officially for lease

For lease signs have gone up on the City Bikes buildings that have been “temporarily” closed since May when we learned about the “death of Charlie McCormick, founder and CEO of City Bikes”.

Anyone know the status of the Adams Morgan location? That space was halved back in 2022.

Updates as we learn more.

I had a run in with this lady back in June on the 1800 block of Columbia Road NW at the entrance of Kalorama Park.

It was at about 10pm and I was taking my dog out. She was walking on the street and kept staring at us. Then she walked across the street and kept staring then started walking toward us. (more…)

1800 block of Biltmore St, NW at noon, third district commander Jim Boteler made the actual arrest of an individual doing smash and grabs out of cars with a side of physical assault. The commander noticed that he had a bag in which there was a clearly visible gun, arrested the man and K9 found the gun Thrown away down the street.“
