The new location will also serve as a hub for Blue Bottle’s Washington, D.C. cafes; an attached training lab will provide staff ongoing coffee education.

WHAT

“METRO reports Red Line Train service suspended between Judiciary Square & NoMa due to fire department activity at Union Station. Bus service requested.”

WMATA reported around 2:45pm:

“Red Line: Trains single tracking btwn NoMa & Judiciary Square due to fire dept activity at Union Station. Expect delays in both directions.”

Update from Alert DC:

“DC FEMS reports the Fire Department Activity at Union Station is now clear.

Additional Information: METRO reports that they are single tracking between NoMa and Judiciary Square.”

Whew.

4pm Update from WMATA:

“Red Line: No longer single tracking. Residual delays continue in both directions following fire dept activity at Union Station.”

Walking to work on 2nd Street NE between K and L around 9:30am, a man with a black mask, black jacket and black pants was walking down the street exposing himself. When I noticed I quickly walked by. When I got a safe distance away I turned around and he kept looking back, then zipped up and ran off toward 3rd street. I called the police but wanted to give everyone else a heads up. Right when this happened, I remembered reports of a flasher in NoMa. I wonder if this is the same guy.”

You can find us serving up our renowned, curated artisanal cheese plates and raclette at residencies in partnership with area wineries and breweries; at events and music festivals across the region; you can book our traveling cheese bar for your own parties and weddings; and you can even sign up for our ever-popular cheeses classes – this time all across the region. Heads Up “Doug” formerly “Gene” et al is Back Scamming

“Dear PoPville,

I hadn’t read the article!!!!! Lesson learned — read PoPville DAILY.

Same speil. His name was “Doug.” He “lives down the street” — and I know most of the people on my street, so I was a little hesitant. My two HUGE dogs barking in the background — door open in case I needed them to attack.

He was “jumped by two black kids. I already called the cops. But I just realize they took my wallet and car keys” — it didn’t make much sense. He needed money to get to Springfield, VA to get his car. Again — no sense. I gave him $10 thinking he was a new tenant in my neighbor’s house about 10 houses down.

I gave him my metro card. Then immediately went on-line and canceled the card and transferred my money off that card to another one (another lesson — register your Metro cards).
He was wearing a dress shirt and tie and a leather jacket, I think. Big blood spot on the side of his head where the “kids hurt him.”

He “works for Whitman Walker Clinic as a doctor in their van they drive around town” … I believe perhaps that’s the van he said he needed to pick up.

I live just east of NoMa in the H Street Corridor.”

““Doug” is still at it. Visited neighbor near 4th/M NE last night. Claimed to be a Whitman Walker doctor & said he was jumped by two guys earlier.”

“Husband-and-wife baking duo Tom Wellings and Camila Arango are bringing their sweet treats — and savory ones, too — to the Union Market District tomorrow, February 3 with Pluma by Bluebird Bakery.


“Pluma by Bluebird Bakery will offer morning and afternoon pastries, sandwiches, tartines, salads and Roman-style pizza as well as Stumptown coffee, beer and wine”

The new café concept, which began as a pop-up coffee shop at Prequel, will be located inside The Edison (391 Morse Street NW), the new 178-unit apartment complex near Union Market featuring 28,000 square feet of retail space on the ground level.

In addition to a robust menu of morning and afternoon pastries, such as quiche, croissants, tarts and shortbreads, Pluma will serve sandwiches, tartines, salads and Roman-style pizza as well as Stumptown coffee, beer and wine.

Local seasonal produce will factor heavily on the menu, which will continue to include well-known favorites like kouign-amann, a pastry from Brittany, France. Pluma is an expansion of Wellings and Arango’s Bluebird Bakery brand, a wholesale distributor of baked goods and coffee servicing 16 cafés and culinary hubs in the D.C. region, including Union Market.
