Muzette Karaoke is coming to the old Kokopolis spot at 2305 18th St NW in Adams Morgan. A sign recently went up and the entrance is starting to look nice which is promising since it used to look like this but now looks like this:

“Dear PoP,

I have noticed that the Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli at 1300 2nd St. N.E. has been closed now for about 5 weeks . I originally thought that maybe they were closed for vacation which they have done in the past,But tonight as I was walking by I spoke to a Security Guard for the ATF building where they are located and he said they have gone out of business. Well since the Constitution Cafe opened around the corner 145 N St N.E. their business had slowed to a crawl (Plus the food is a lot better than Heidi’s).”

Will anyone miss Heidi’s?

I know I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not I like glass buildings but I’m digging this one (view looking north from the bridge walking towards H St, NE). I like the building itself, but I especially like how the tracks kinda veers around it. What do you guys think – thumbs up or down?

You can find more information about the Constitution Square project here. Note Columbia Heights’ own Tynan Coffee & Tea will be expanding into this area. From an emailed Press Release:

How do you think the new bike station located right outside Union Station, turned out? I think it looks super cool? I know I’ll be called daft, obtuse and more but can someone please explain the purpose to me. Who will use this? Bikers from outside of DC who then will take the metro to work?

And of course do you like the structure itself?

I was rather lost when I took those photo but thought it was a pretty sweet street scene. Anyone recognize it?

Warning: Some of the images contained herein might be upsetting, particularly to any vegans/vegetarians. I don’t know. Just felt like I should disclaim it.

There’s more than one Market in the East. On a recent Saturday afternoon, I ventured over to Florida Avenue to check out the Capital City Market. Roughly bounded by Florida Ave. NE on the South, 6th St. NE on the east, Penn St. NE on the north and the FL Ave. Metro on the west, the Market was originally located on the National Mall (somewhere near around Federal Triangle) and was relocated after World War I to make way for the Mall we’re all familiar with today. [Ed. Note:  Winner Announced Friday, Feb. 22]

“Two submissions for your contest:

(1) A picture of A. Litteri’s entrance, representing my favorite spot this week – the D.C. Farmers’ Market off of Florida Ave in NE. Last weekend was my first trip to the market and after picking up Italian groceries, vegetables from Sam Wang’s, and a trip to one of the butchers, I was all set for a Sunday dinner for friends. I only found one fresh fish vendor but will continue the search!

(2) A poor adaptation of a good Wilco song. Give my apologies to Tweedy when you see him at show.”

Check out the adaptation of the Wilco song after the jump. (more…)

Thanks to a reader for sending me this photo. It is truly vomit inducing. Rumor has it, the unit on the end lit itself on fire it was so distressed.  It makes the pop up at New Hampshire and Upshur look classy. So explain to me how this gets zoned. This is from P Street just across North Capitol.
