With the new yellow sculpture at the corner of 5th and K Streets, NW (see post above) this smaller piece really gets overshadowed. Literally. It’s pretty neat though. How’s that for a sophisticated critique…

Think $2999 for a 2 bedroom sounds reasonable for this location?

Jordin’s Paradise is located at 1121 7th Street, NW (across from the Convention Center). It’s nice to see this strip of a retail get a new business. And the business itself seems pretty cool. They describe themselves:

When the Passenger opened up at 1021 7th St. NW, near the Convention Center, it instantly improved that stretch of 7th Street. I was excited to see coming soon signs for the nearby Bar 7 to be located at 1015 7th Street, NW. I seem to recall an alcohol application license a while ago but it seems they are a lot closer to opening now. If they are half as good as the Passenger it’ll be great news.

“Dear PoP,
I live in mount vernon square and i was wondering if you know what the deal is with the metal tracks in the street/side walk around the convention center. they’re on 7th and 9th and on the sidewalks around the building.
i’ve thought of lots of different explanations (both practical and ridiculous) but i’m not really sure. any ideas?”

I am completely stumped. But first reader that gets it (and I can confirm it) gets a free PoP t-shirt. What the Helen of Troy is This?

I think this is a good looking little house but I am a bit surprised at the asking price. Do you think $548,000 sounds reasonable for this 2 bed/1.5 bath?

Simply awesome.

This condo is located at 936 N Street, NW:

Well, the description sounds really nice but I’m a little disappointing with the photos. I’m really surprised there are no photos of the bedrooms. I think yesterday someone said that they were tired of seeing 2 bedrooms under 900 square feet. Given that this one is 1140 square feet do you think $479,900 sounds reasonable?

We looked at this sculpture outside the City Visa Busboys & Poets last week. But as promised I wanted to show some daytime photos of it. When I stopped by there was still a bit of work going on. But I gotta agree with some original comments, I’m not sure I’m feeling this one. I’ll be very curious to check it out when it’s completely finished.

When I walked by this weekend the space was looking pretty nice but I didn’t know if the Deli was reopening or a new spot was coming in. Yesterday afternoon The Triangle posted the scoop:
“G & J Deli at 317 K Street NW is closing and will reopen in several weeks as Henry’s Soul Cafe.”
Also interesting to note is that Henry’s Soul Cafe is currently located at 1704 U St., NW. I’ll have to check to see if they are moving or just opening up a second location.
