Ed. Note: It’ll all be worth it if Eataly comes, it’ll all be worth it if Eataly comes…

From DDOT:

The related work, involving removal, relocation and replacement of existing underground utilities will impact both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and is expected to last six months, weather permitting.

Construction activities during this phase will generally occur during the following hours:

· Saturday and Sunday work, scheduled only as needed, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Phase II Traffic Pattern Shifts:

· H Street will be re-opened westbound, allowing traffic to travel directly through the Massachusetts Avenue intersection from 2nd to 4th Streets; eastbound traffic will remain as currently configured.

· Temporary Lane Closures should be expected between 7:00am to 12:00am. Traffic barrels, cones, and flaggers shall be implemented to redirect traffic as necessary.”

From MPD:

“On today’s date [Saturday], members conducted a “Street Level Prostitution Sting” in the 1200 block of 11th Street, NW related to numerous recent VICE complaints about prostitution in said area. From approximately 6:30pm to 7:00pm (30 minutes Only), a 3-D VICE Undercover Officer deployed to the street posing as a “Street Prostitute.” During the course of this timeframe, three separate males subjects entered the area, contacted the officer and attempted to solicit her to conduct sexual acts upon them for the promise of monetary compensation. All three adult male subjects were arrested and charged with “Solicitation of Prostitution.”

A reader writes:

“5th st nw between k and mass age appears to be locked down, with mass ave between 4th and 6th blocked. There were a lot of police units, some fire, and a few guys in fbi shirts.”

The (Mount Vernon) Triangle says an an “armed individual” was captured.

While Uniqlo coming to DC proper may still be wishful thinking – CityPaper got confirmation from the Capitol Crossing developers that Mario Batali’s Eataly is “definitively happening…no earlier than 2017” according to Property Group Partners. This is part of the huge Capital Crossing Development which you can read about here.

So I guess the bet is, who will come first Uniqlo or Eataly?

More good bistro news – the Washington Business Journal reports:

“Hakan Ilhan, who owns Alba Osteria at 425 Eye St. NW, has signed a lease for a 6,361-square-foot space at 450 K Street NW, the m.flats apartment building from Kettler. The restaurant will be called L’Hommage Bistro Francais and combine a full-service bistro with a bakery, cafe and grab-and-go sandwich option at lunch.”

Sounds very promising! Any fans of Alba Osteria?

The MVTCID says:

“Look for this new addition to Mount Vernon Triangle’s growing culinary choices in June 2015.”

@WeinDC tweets us the permit above listing the name Steaks in the City at the long awaited K Street space by Mandu and the recently closed Kushi:

“Permits for Rays the Steaks? @MVTCID @PoPville”
