This house seems to be a complete renovation. So what do you think of the renovation and what do you think of the price which just squeaks under house porn status (arbitrarily set by me at $1 mil) at $984,500? Now I do think this a super sweet location. And it also seems like a big house with 5 beds and 4.5 baths. But answer me this, if it was a complete renovation – how come they painted the outside pink?

I’ve always wondered how such a prime property could be left in such a rundown condition. I was happy to see a permit saying that the Embassy of Spain is seeking to use this space for a chancery annex that will be used as a Spanish Cultural Center. Nice. I hope they are able to salvage some of the beautiful buildings already on the property.

Thanks to all who sent emails. Here’s the Post write up.

“At the school, the president and Michelle Obama read to a group of second-graders in the school library from a picture book entitled “The Moon over Star,” an account of the first moon landing in July of 1969.”

And many thanks to the reader who caught the motorcade and sent the above photo. Our man on the scene writes:

“They was there for about half an hour, they came in the front door and then left through the side door in the alley. At first they had everyone on the Mt Pleasant side of 16th street, then they moved us all to the corner of 16th and Irving across from Bell Multicultural High School. There were about 50 people there on the corner waiting for them to leave the school. One we were all on the sidewalk they put up police tape. Once the motorcade started a police car pulled up right in front of us as well. As they were pulling away the Obama’s were in the second limo and he looked over at us on the sidewalk and waved.”

In less than a month the President has been to U Street and CH/MT. P – gotta love it.

I once showed this potential beauty from Mt. Pleasant back, back, back in the day. If memory serves I think it was for sale. I was a bit sad to see it was still in a state of disrepair. Anyone know the scoop on this house located at the corner of 18th and Monroe?

This home is located in Mt. Pleasant very close to Columbia Heights. I forget the exact street (maybe Brown? A little help?). I don’t understand what they’re doing with the vinyl combined with that brown material. Wouldn’t it be better to have all one or the other? Anyone like this combination? Is it possible that the brown material will eventually cover up all of the vinyl?

“This property is in good condition and has great Tenants. Walking distance to the Metro at 14th and Irving St and all the new shops there. Two of the Tenants are on month to month leases the other 4 are in various stages of a year lease. The expenses don’t include management in that a Purchaser may want to do self management. (current owner lives in NYC). All units recently upgraded.”

More info but sadly no photos can be found here.

I’m curious if there are folks out there who would consider an investment property like this? What if you wanted to live in the home itself, how are the tenant laws in DC? What would it take for this to be a good investment? Cause the price ain’t cheap – $1,125,000.

More info and photos found here.

I’m curious to know what you think of the house itself – both the inside and outside. What exactly is a “folk victorian” anyway?

I probably could of made this a house porn edition as it’s going for $1,250,000. Think that’s reasonable?

Did anyone sample the Dutch-Puffs that were cooking on the outdoor patio of Dos Gringos? They looked pretty good but, sadly, I had already eaten. Anyone ever hear of these before? I was told if the weather isn’t too cold, they’ll be available next weekend as well.
