A witness writes:
“Witnessed a robbery on 14th just south of P St (in front of Trade) at approximately 11:30am. Without giving too many details to mess with the investigation, the police seem eager to speak with any other witnesses. There were a bunch of people who walked by this all happening, since it was a standard busy morning on 14th.”

Update from the victim:
“I was actually the one carjacked. Few minor details that need correcting. It was at the corner of O and Vermont, just south of the circle. My car is a dark gray Subaru Crosstrek with DC plates. They came up on me when I was parking (just about to get out) and we’re armed. They also stole my phone. I’ve been parking on the street for years and it’s frequently trafficked by people walking their dogs, so I’m shocked it happened at all.”

Update from the DC Preservation League:
“The existing façade was significantly reworked in the 1920s and again in the 40s, and the result was a mishmash of masonry that was severely compromised on the backside when they opened the wall up.
structural engineer assess it and determined that they couldn’t retain it in place. They applied 4 a modified permit to take it down, salvaging all the intact stone pieces (belt courses, jack arched lintels, etc.) & will reconstruct based on laser scans and reusing the old pieces”
