From a press release:

“The popular go-to local shop for smoothies, juice and acai bowls, South Block, is set to open a D.C. stand-alone flagship location on 14th street in Logan Circle. This will be South Block’s 11th location and the second they have opened since the start of the pandemic. This location will be in the former Dolcezza space on the corner of 14th and P at 1418 14th Street NW.

Fan favorites like the Warrior Bowl and the Super Green Smoothie will be on the menu, along with a full coffee menu featuring superfood lattes and Bulletproof coffee. Customers can order in store or through the app and are able to pickup with South Block’s very first pick up window.

Amir Mostafavi, founder and CEO of South Block, is excited to be opening up shop in this location, as he has profound childhood memories of walking up and down 14th Street passing out flyers trying to get locals into his father’s video store, Video 2000. (more…)

Thanks to Rachel for sending: “A shadow just passed over me while I was out in my back patio on 13th St right off Logan circle, and I looked up to see this hawk carrying its prey! It settled on the roof to look around and eat lunch. I’ve never tried to identify a hawk before, but it looks like either a juvenile Red-Tail hawk or else a juvenile Cooper’s Hawk. Not sure what he has for lunch either…”

If you spot a hawk or any interesting wildlife around town, lunching or otherwise, and get a good photo please send in an email where you spotted it to [email protected] and I’ll add it to the queue. Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.

“Dear PoPville,

The SW corner of 12th and P NW is falling into the storm drain, and it just seems like a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt. I submitted this photo to 311 and got the response “looks fine” from whoever reviewed the submission. This photo is the original one I sent in… I walked past it again today and it’s gotten worse. I’ve broken a leg and wouldn’t wish the experience on anyone.” (more…)
