Un je ne sais Quoi is coming to the former Hello Cupcake space just south of Dupont Circle. They tweeted:

“@eat_dc If everything is all right with the Health Inspection tomorrow, we will be able to open on Saturday

update:

“@eat_dc unfortunately we had to delay the Health inspection on Monday morning.”

Standby for confirmation for this:

“High-quality French pastry shop dedicated to provide an old-fashioned dessert in different flavors for a “gourmet” experience outside restaurants”

Hours will be:

From a press release:

“We might think of March as springtime, but the D.C. area is expecting snow on Friday and many will be without heat during the chilly nights to come.

Every winter, 1 in 5 residents – our neighbors, friends, and co-workers – are often forced to choose between putting food on the table, paying for rent, getting medication or heating their homes in the wintertime. More often than not, these residents and their children choose to give up heat to afford other necessities.

To give commuters a ‘taste’ of how cold it can be in a home with no heat, Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF) will distribute free popsicles outside the Rosslyn and Dupont metro stops this Friday, March 4 from 7-9 a.m. to demonstrate the connection between icy cold frozen treats and temperatures inside local homes of families in need. The full details are the advisory below.

WHEN: Friday, March 4

7 – 9 a.m.

WHERE: Rosslyn Metro
1817 N Moore St.
Arlington, VA 22209

Dupont Metro
South Exit
19th St. NW (1300 block)”

“Dear PoPville,

I wonder if you might make a quick public service announcement that the lady discussed in this post from 2012 is back, and working the Connecticut Ave corridor between Woodley Park and Dupont. Approaches at first as if she just needs help finding her way around, to get you talking. In addition to the original story, she now claims to have bone cancer and has switched her purported residence to the far reaches of Maryland.”

Located right next door to Thaiphoon on S Street, NW in Dupont. Back in the day we learned it is now part of Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and: “It was built as a store in 1877, making it one of the oldest remaining buildings in the neighborhood. It certainly is an unusual facade.”

buredo

Nice – the former Pinkberry space (and don’t forget Pampillonia Jewelers represented here for many years before that) is going to become a second location for Buredo who opened their first “Burrito-size sushi rolls” spot at 825 14th Street, NW over the summer. Ed. Note: 825 14th Street, NW used to be a Yogenfruz. God willing Buredo will take over all the former frozen yogurt spots in the city! For those not familiar their website says:

“Buredo (pronounced “bur-EE-doh”) is a local DC establishment, owned by two life-long childhood friends and DC natives who were looking for a unique, fresh lunch option. Our handheld, burrito-size sushi rolls feature Asian and other globally-inspired ingredients and flavors. Using seasoned rice and traditional nori, we roll our sushi burritos to order – perfect for the health-conscious crowd on the go looking for some good, clean eating with a twist.

We use the highest-quality, all-natural ingredients (no artificial dyes or flavors here) which we prepare daily to roll a fresh, hearty and flavor-packed sushi burrito. Veggies play a starring role as well – we are passionate about letting them shine through their natural flavors and textures, and love to pack a punch with pickling too.

Buredo is bringing a new way of eating sushi to the nation’s capital. Always remember to eat your veggies, eat more fish and eat Buredo!”

And you can check their menu here too.

pansari

“Dear PoPville,

I went to Pansaari in Dupont yesterday and was thinking it’s kind of an undiscovered gem.

It has the best chai in DC (maybe the best outside of India) made to order with a ton of fresh spices and ginger.

Food is very good too – very high quality, farm-to-table and authentic. There was someone in there yesterday freaking out because the owner had made some dish he hadn’t had since he lived in India. They sell spices too.

And the space is super beautiful. They took the old Chaos space and transformed it from basement dance club to bright, beautiful chai hideaway. (Chaidaway?) Lots of beautiful painted tile on the walls and a huge, inlaid marble chai bar.

Anyway, I don’t work there or anything but think it’s awesome and I think more people should know about it.”
