“Dear PoPville,

My roommates and I are writing in because we have been having an issue with someone leaving trash on the bench outside our house. Not every morning, probably once every 2 weeks. I’ve seen it at the building next door once too, but they clearly have an affinity for our bench! You see, this is not just any trash, but ALWAYS an extra large bottle of yellowtail red wine, a 2 liter bottle of soda water, and a large carton of Horizon milk. All are empty, and they must have been left sometime in the middle of the night. I’ve attached a picture of the latest trash found this morning. We live near the 17th Street area (in between DuPont and Logan) and were wondering if any other neighbors were experiencing the same thing. We are stumped, a little creeped out, and mainly find it SO bizarre!”

From a press release:

“Dupont Circle has long been one of Cava Grill’s most requested neighborhoods to open, and on April 1st, Cava 15th location will call it home. Located at 1222 Connecticut Avenue NW, on the south side of the circle, Cava’s Dupont restaurant is distinctly situated between the downtown, 14th Street, and Georgetown neighborhoods.

“The AGU headquarters building, which is over 20 years old, is in need of significant system upgrades and improvements. In keeping with AGU’s mission, the organization is researching ways to renovate the building that could achieve a net zero* energy goal.

After months of research, the team has determined that in order to achieve the net zero goal, the project would require historic preservation and zoning approval. The project is currently undergoing ANC review which is your opportunity to provide feedback as members of the public.
Please join your ANC representatives, AGU leadership, and team members for an informational session about the project and what it will mean to the neighborhood, the city and how this project could set a new national standard in environmental building practices.

If you are unable to attend the reception please contact [email protected] and/or Commissioner Warwick at [email protected] for more information.”

“Dear PoPville,

I proposed to my girlfriend Friday evening at the Tabard Inn restaurant. It’s our favorite spot for special occasions and didn’t disappoint Friday, out on the patio with perfect weather, candlelight, ambiance, and delicious food and drink. We were having a wonderful time even before the proposal, which prompted even more smiling, laughing, hugging, etc. Just when things couldn’t get any more awesome, we learned that one of our fellow patrons had asked to pay our bill for us. My girlfriend’s – (whoops! fianceé’s) – parents have not been supportive of us (I’m a woman) and my own parents passed away before we met, so we’ve been kind of missing that whole feeling of someone ‘breaking out the bubbly’ to say congratulations. The table asked to remain anonymous and in our stunned state, we’re not sure we really conveyed to the staff how thankful and appreciative we were for the thoughtful and amazing gesture.

If you’re reading this, generous stranger(s), we just want you to know how moved we were by you wanting to share in the happiness of our decision to spend the rest of our lives together. Thank you for making us feel special. Your gesture meant so much more to us than you probably knew. Thank you!”

“Dear PoPville,

Aren’t there better safety procedures for cutting large branches over a busy sidewalk? (Southbound Connecticut Ave & Leroy Place) This seems like work that should have been done off-peak, not when lots of people are walking to work/bus stops. Also, there was no advance warning for those walking north on Connecticut Ave – so people walked in the street rather than having a lengthy backtrack.”
