“Dear PoPville,

I was walking by the public house on my walk home from work, and saw a sign where the Chick-fil-A was supposed to be that said it was going to be a bank. I can’t tell if that was a joke or not though. Have you heard anything about this? I haven’t seen anything since you posted about it last November so I’m wondering if it did end up becoming a bank.”

It is no joke! But the bank is coming one storefront down to the former Little Beet space: (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I saw the news a couple months ago about a number (8?) of Taylor Gourmet locations opening under new ownership. Just this morning a friend posted to Instagram about a new one in her building in Dupont, and I think the old one by the White House and one in North Bethesda are back open but I’m not sure. Do you have any intel on the locations that will reopen under the original name?

Early thoughts from readers on how faithful it is to the original would be interesting too.

Sorellina opened up here back in January. A new placard posted now says:

“Applicant requests to increase interior and Summer Garden seating. Interior seat count will increase from 27 to 48. Summer Garden seating will increase from 6 to 14. Total Occupancy Load will increase from 35 to 70.”

Check out Sorellina’s menu here.

Any fans?

Thanks to Alex for sending news about Saxbys closing in Dupont (1309 19th Street, NW) after today’s service.

Saxbys closed their downtown location back in 2016. Updates when we learn what becomes of the Dupont space. For Dupont folks, Philz will probably scratch that itch.
