Thanks to a tipster for passing on a job listing saying they are opening in April. The liquor license application for Officina Cafe says:

“New Restaurant delivering food and alcohol to offices throughout the building. Summer Garden with 60 seats. Total Occupancy Loadis150 with seating for 60 inside premises. Requesting an Entertainment Endorsement to provide live entertainment and dancing indoors and outdoors.”

In October Officina opened their Wharf location.

Eater reported:

“Stefanelli says the Officina Cafe will primarily serve breakfast, lunch, and happy hour. He’s still working out the possibility of dinner. The chef is envisioning Roman pizzas, pasta, sandwiches, salads, coffee, and cocktails.”

Updates as the cafe gets closer to opening downtown.

About a week ago we reported the closure of Victoria’s Secret (followed by closures of Art of Shaving, and Rochester Big & Tall in March.). In the Big and Tall closing post a commenter confirmed some scuttlebutt that I’d been hearing:

“DCRA permits show that Sephora is moving into at least some of this space – 6000 sq ft.”

STAY TUNED.

C’mon House!!

From a press release:

“The office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced that the U.S. Senate today passed a federal lands package that contains Norton’s bill that clarifies that the District of Columbia and the National Park Service (NPS) have the authority to enter into cooperative management agreements (CMAs) to maintain and operate NPS properties in the District, such as Franklin Park. The Senate lands package was introduced by Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). Last Congress, Norton and Murkowski introduced the stand-alone versions of the D.C.-NPS CMA bill. The rehabilitation of Franklin Park would be funded through a public-private partnership between NPS, the D.C. government and the Downtown Business Improvement District. Under current federal law, NPS has the authority to enter into CMAs with states and cities, and Norton’s bill makes clear that D.C. is included under this authority. (more…)

Snapshot from this animation represents the revised concept as reviewed and approved by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts on July 19, 2018: elements of the design are still in progress. Additional agency reviews will occur toward ultimate design approval by the Commission of Fine Arts, the National Capital Planning Commission, and the National Park Service.” See full “animation here.

From the National Parks Service:

“The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking comments on the proposed enhancements to Pershing Park for the national World War I Memorial. The project, including a comparison of the two alternatives, is available online at http://go.nps.gov/WWI-DEA. The public comment period is open February 6 – 27, 2019. The comment period, which originally ended on January 18, has been extended due to the partial government shutdown.

The Draft Environmental Assessment describes how the proposed national World War I Memorial will enhance Pershing Park (located on Pennsylvania Avenue, between 14th Street NW & 15th Street NW) by constructing appropriate sculptural and commemorative elements, including landscaping. (more…)
