This really bummed me out this morning and when I went back by on my walk back home, I saw a kind gentleman sweeping up the area. I originally thought he was the nearby homeowner but saw him leave with the broom and walk back down the block. It turns out he’s just a good Samaritan doing the right thing in stark contrast to the person who hit the car and drove off.” (more…)

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, October 2, 2021, in the 1300 block of Half Street, Southwest.

At approximately 11:08 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located two adult males and an adult female suffering from gunshot wounds. (more…)

I’ve noticed a significant amount of demo work going on in the former Modell’s store at DCUSA, and next door in the already vacant space that used to be Elite? something or other. They took down a couple of walls to open up the space (for what would make a much bigger single retail space) and they’re even tearing out the drop ceiling that used to be in Modell’s and the previous store next door. 7th and P Street, NW

Readers reported: “heard at least 15-20 shots, definitely some from a semi-automatic, from 9th and O around 9:30 PM.”

Just before 6pm a reader passed on a note from their building (1300 block of Kenyon street, nw):

“Please be advised that there was a shooting in the alleyway behind the building. At this time we do not have many details but all footage captured will be forwarded to the police. The police will be conducting an investigation and access to the garage from Kenyon Street has been blocked off. It would be best to use the 1300 block of Irving street to enter the alleyway.

Please continue to use caution as you enter and exit the building.”
