“Dear PoPville,
I wanted to bring some attention to an issue we are having in our neighborhood. A little over a year ago, our neighborhood dry cleaner moved (largely due to COVID). The small property at 1301 Florida Ave NW, which is on the ground floor of a residential four story apartment complex, was vacant for a bit. A smoke shop tried to move in but was denied by the zoning board because the store is just across the street from Cardozo high school (see photo above). (more…)

Readers reported just after 5pm: “There was just a shooting at the triangle park at New Hampshire & Sherman NW. Tons of MPD on scene, and I can see one person on the ground alive).
Roads closed SB right now at Sherman & Park, and cars coming EB on Park being diverted onto New Hampshire”
“Someone was just shot in the park at Sherman and Park. Park is blocked off at Sherman, south lane of Sherman at Park is blocked. Whole park is taped off as police look for shells/weapons”

There have been 3 occasions now where myself, my partner, and friend have had instances along 11th ST NW between Florida and Fairmont, where muggings have been happening.
My partner had an instance where a black car with tinted windows slowly pulled up, two individuals in the front, two in the back (who came out), assaulted and robbed him and two others.
