Thanks to all the readers who sent emails about this. I was away from my computer much of the afternoon but I really appreciate all those who sent the heads up. Anyway, you can see that the northbound and southbound signs were changed with Mt. Pleasant and Pleasant Plains arrows. Personally I think this is a terrible idea. I actually think signs that simply said east or west would be far more useful. What do you guys think – is the signage gonna help or confuse people?

DCist notes:

“According to Metro spokesperson Ron Holzer, the sign was installed at the request of Councilmember Jim Graham. “He said customers were confused about which exit to use for these two neighborhoods,” said Holzer.”

Also note that the Northbound and Southbound signs still exist by the separate metro entrances:

A few emails went out announcing that roadwork would be completed by July 9th. Bad weather has delayed that time table a bit as there is still a big chunk of work that needs to be completed north of Park Road (pictured above). Though much of that is sidewalk work.

Unfortunately there is still a lot of consternation about the new traffic pattern no longer letting you cross 14th St, west across Park Road.

But south of Kenyon is looking good:

Back in April Pollomio Peruvian Chicken opened up (replacing Kiko’s chicken) at 3703 14th Street, NW. I just noticed that they’ve added a bakery and cakes – think this combination will work? Anyone have a taste yet?

I received the following note around 10:30pm Sat. night:

“Don’t know if you have heard about the shooting on 11th between irving and columbia. i just got home and saw the police having cordoned off the whole block, so i walked over and asked one of the police officers what was going on. he was really nice and friendly and told me that at around 8pm a “young guy” around 18 years old got shot running up 11th street. he said that the victim was not from the local neighborhood and that no neighbors or other bystanders got hurt.”

I haven’t seen a police report on this incident but will update as more info becomes available.
