“2:00 pm – 3500 11th Street, NW (11th & Monroe Street Park) C1 reported that S1 approached him and asked to use his cell phone, when he refused S1 grabbed C1 and bit him on his right arm. C1 pushed S1 away, S1 then picked up a brick, put it inside a sock and began swinging the brick at C1, without striking him. S1 threw the brick on the ground and fled the scene on foot.

C1 refused medical treatment.”

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting at the intersection of 14th Street and Fairmont Street NW. An adult male sustained non-life threatening injuries in this incident and has been transported to an area hospital.

Motorists and pedestrians in the area should expect street closures while we investigate and are asked to seek alternate routes.

Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099 or text to 50411.”

“The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is beginning construction activity for a new “Barnes Dance” traffic signal operation at the intersection of 14th Street and Irving Street, NW, in the Columbia Heights neighborhood in Ward 1. Construction is expected to begin in early June and last approximately three weeks.

The new traffic signal timing features an all-red pedestrian-only phase and “No Turn on Red” restrictions designed to improve operations and create a safer intersection for all users. (more…)

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District announced an arrest has been made in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) and an Armed Robbery (Knife) that occurred in the Third District.

· Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife): On Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at approximately 3:30 pm, in the 1400 block of Park Road, Northwest.

o The victim was approached by two suspects. One of the suspects brandished a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times. The suspects fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. This case remains under investigation.

· Armed Robbery (Knife): On Monday, April 3, 2017, at approximately 4:40 pm, in the 1000 block of Irving Street, Northwest. (more…)

Thanks to all who’ve been emailing and tweeting us about Meridian Hill Park’s fountains no longer working. Looked like we were getting an early start this year. Alas NPS tells me:

“We are currently working with a contractor to repair a section of the piping for the fountains.”
