Maison Kayser’s website says:
“Founded by Eric Kayser in Paris in 1996, Maison Kayser is an authentic artisanal French Boulangerie, meaning that bread and other baked goods are mixed and baked on-site all day long.
Each Maison Kayser location around the world is organized in the pure tradition of the French Bakery. The most ancestral techniques are combined to produce bread, including the use of liquid leaven, and innovation with the most high performance, modern, state-of-the-art bakery equipment.”

A couple weeks ago we learned that this Hooters was listed for lease but we hadn’t heard when the closing date was. Couple more weeks to get your wings.

From a press release:
“As the leaves begin to fall and the temperature begins to drop, CityCenterDC has unveiled a never-before-seen installation, Autumn Forest, over Palmer Alley. Now through the end of October, visitors will enjoy thousands of autumn leaves suspended above the main retail transverse of the neighborhood, creating a warm harvest sky. Unlike the previous Palmer Alley installations (City in Bloom, Dream Closet and Summer Beach Ball) the Autumn Forest has been designed as a horizontal canopy. (more…)

While we’re waiting for the permanent Union Station location, looks like we’re getting closer to the Penn Quarter pop up in the former American Apparel space on F Street. Thanks to Jeremy for sending a shot of the new signage yesterday.

From an email:
“While Capital One has long been a hometown bank in the District, the company is thrilled to announce plans of two new Café locations slated for Georgetown and Chinatown.
WHAT THE CAPITAL ONE CAFÉS ARE ALL ABOUT: At the intersection of both the digital and physical worlds are the Capital One Cafés – a space that’s intentionally designed for how people live and bank today. The Capital One Cafes are about solving visitor’s financial problems and helping them reach their money goals. The new locations will serve as a community space where DC residents can recharge their bank accounts, devices and lives while learning new ways to manage their finances through free Capital One services like Money Coaching or Money Workshops, try out new digital and financial tools, use fee-free ATMs, tap into free Wi-Fi, or simply grab a great cup of coffee or local pastries.”

Thanks to Brian for sending from Oceanaire.
“this seems odd…instead of raising the price of the food, they charge a hidden tax that shows up on bill”
Update from the Washington Post (from a “statement from Tim Whitlock, senior vice president of operations and chief operating officer of the Oceanaire”):
“In response to recent feedback, we have chosen to remove this surcharge effective immediately and will explore more traditional means to address the industry’s rising costs, such as raising menu prices.”
