“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, in the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast.

At approximately 8:46 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Additionally, an unconscious adult male was located inside of a hallway of a residential building, at the listed location, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. While engaged in those enforcement efforts, CST officers recovered FIVE separate weapons stashed in the area. Yesterday on twitter @PoPville I was asked about the huge police presence on Benning Road. So much worse than I could even imagine.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with Intent to Kill while Armed (Knife) and First Degree Cruelty to Children offense that occurred on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, in the 1700 block of Benning Road, Northeast.

At approximately 5:48 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a two year-old female, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Read More

“On April 29, 2020, members of the Fifth District responded to a call for a shooting in the 900 block of 19th Street NE. Officers arrived quickly and were able to locate a car believed to be occupied by the suspects that was fleeing from the scene. Officers gave chase and pursued the car into the Sixth District where occupants fled on foot. Officers stopped and arrested 3 males, as well as recovered a semiautomatic handgun.

The case is being investigated by the Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information is asked to call (202)727-9099″

Thanks to Noah and Walter for sending from CNN:

“Modell’s Sporting Goods filed for bankruptcy Wednesday and will close all of its 153 stores in the northeast.”

On Tuesday we reported that the one in Hechinger mall would be closing but this means that the one in Columbia Heights’ DC USA will also be closing. Updates when we learn what becomes of the spaces.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, February 15, 2020, in the 100 block of N Street, Northwest.

At approximately 5:59 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 34 year-old Eugene Isaac, Jr., of no fixed address. Read More
