601 2nd Street, NE at F Street

“Dear PoPville,

Have you heard anything about Toscana (2nd and F NE, by Union Station) closing? I walked by around 530pm yesterday and there was a sheet over the front door, most of the bench tables outside were gone, and all the tables in the covered porch were stacked. They’re clearly closed today, but maybe just on vacation or renovating? There wasn’t any note to indicate. Would love to know if you’ve heard anything, I don’t want to lose their happy hour!!”

Eater DC reported they closed August 3rd and that: ” It’s expected to undergo a complete renovation — complete with a full bar — and reopen this fall under new ownership.”

STAY TUNED.

George Farris, September 2017

There is an update to the post “George has chained himself to his house”. From the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia:

“Judge Rigsby found in the District’s favor a few days ago, and granted the injunction that will allow DCRA to abate the fault with the foundation that has closed access to the alley for years. His order (which also made several other findings) is attached.”

“Dear PoPville,

To be clear, I parallel parked like normal, and went into Church only to come out to find this. I may have tapped the car behind me, and to be honest, my bumper isn’t the mess this note suggests. I went over to the police department to see if anything had been filed. Nothing.

Does anyone else find it odd this person typed this up? Is it possible others have received these and this is just a scare tactic?”
