From a press release:

“It has been three months since The Black Squirrel served its last beers in Adams Morgan. In that time, the space at 2427 18th Street NW transformed into Seasons & Sessions, with a brand-new dining area, reimagined bar/performance space, and a new third floor arcade. As we begin this new era in Adams Morgan, we welcome back some old favorites, familiar faces, as well as some fresh events for our new space.

Our Grand Reopening will be this Thursday, November 29th. We will feature free play in our arcade on the third floor, $1 off all beer and cocktails, $4 wine, and bartender’s choice combo specials. Of course, the kitchen will prepare a special treat, free of charge, for everyone coming out to celebrate the birth of our new restaurant. (more…)

A reader reports:

Beloved Romo passed away over the weekend. I know so many of your followers (myself included) loved seeing his pics on the blog. His Mom has a Facebook page that had the info:

It is with a heavy yet full heart that I share, from 4 weeks until today, Romo’s very rich 11 years on this earth. I know he was greeted in heaven with so many loved ones. He gave us endless love, laughter, entertainment, and drool. (more…)

From an email:

As many of you already know, Tom Marmet, the son of Roger Marmet – one of Roofers Union’s owners – Roger Marmet, was killed in a senseless act of gun violence on October 24th, 2018.  Tom was driving home from his fellowship as a social worker at SOME (So Others Might Eat) and hit by gunfire when he passed an alley in the Trinidad neighborhood.  Tom, 22, was a great young man who I had the fortune of watching grow up as he worked with us at Ripple Wine Bar when school allowed.

We are all extremely saddened by this loss and find ourselves looking for ways to speak and act out against senseless gun violence in DC.  First on the agenda, will be over Thanksgiving weekend (11/23-11/25) when Roofers Union will dedicate the weekend as a benefit to Tom Marmet and all the other victims of gun violence in DC.  On Friday November 23rd, we will be joined by many Tom’s friends and representatives from Everytown for Gun Safety. Thanks to Steve for sending:

“Listed for 70,000. Sold for 135k. I wonder what will be built on this lot or if anything can even be built on the lot due to zoning? Wouldn’t surprise me if the next door neighbor purchased to extend their property/add an addition to their existing home.”

Bright MLS says 1706 Florida Avenue, NW sold on November 2nd for $135,000.

So you guys think something will be built here, if so what? Or do you think it’s more likely to be some breathing room for a neighbor?

5 months ago I was 97% sure Adams Morgan was getting a Wawa. On November 1st I was 99% sure it was coming to the former BicycleSpace space. Let’s kick it to 100% thanks to the Washington Business Journal.

For those not familiar with Wawa it supposedly restores the youth of anyone who eats or bathes in its hoagies.

Updates as they get closer to opening.

“EVERY SATURDAY!

Come in at 5pm and get a .50 beer!
Bottom of the Barrel only!”

From a press release:

“One of the country’s most acclaimed drinking destinations will soon open its second concept, The Imperial, in Washington, DC’s south Adams Morgan neighborhood at 2001 18th Street, NW, in early 2019. Spanning three floors at the prime corner of 18thSt. and Florida Ave. NW, the 5500+ square feet The Imperial will be equal parts restaurant & bar: a bright, light-filled dining room and bar on the main floor, a basement cocktail den which will house award-winning bar Dram & Grain, moving from its current space within Jack Rose, and a two-tiered open-air rooftop bar.
