From a press release:
“Artworx Consultants, Foxhall Partners, and artist Ravi Raman today unveiled his first street-art mural at 1737 Columbia Rd., Northwest in Adams Morgan. The mural, titled Love In Six Lines, is based on Raman’s series of paintings of the same name.
Inspired by Pablo Picasso’s minimalist glass paintings, artist Ravi Raman created Love In Six Lines as a celebration of love and relationships depicted in a series of whimsical paintings and Instagram posts. Limiting each illustration to just six lines, Raman makes the analogy between his simple yet deceptively complicated drawings to that of love and relationships. (more…)

Well this is interesting. Back in June we reported that Habana Village had become Prime Time Sports Bar. A reader spotted the return of a Habana Village awning. STAY TUNED.

A reader reported hearing shots fired around 1:30pm near the Line Hotel.
I inquired with MPD and they replied:
“Our 3rd District responded to a shooting in the 2400 18th Street, NW. Responding officers located an adult male, suffering from gunshot wound. He was last reported conscious and breathing. Investigators are looking at the possibility that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.“

Thanks to all who messaged me:
“Sad news, just walked by and they are closed for good. Said they were “moving” to their K St location on the window and the space was mostly emptied out. It’s a a very big retail space, so it will be interesting to see what goes in there.”
“Just wanted to confirm that BicycleSpace is closing their flagship Adams Morgan location [Opened July 2015], to focus on their K Street [Mt. Vernon Square] and Ivy City shops. the usual reasons, rent too high, too much square footage to support with bike sales and service, lots of veteran staff members leaving over the past year. It’s a bummer for 18th Street, and I hope my friends who work there will be ok.”
In June I said I was 97% sure Adams Morgan was getting a WaWa. If I were a betting man…
Prior to BicycleSpace this was home to Slaviya and back in the day, Cities.

UPDATE from Bourbon’s Facebook:
Some news:
After 12 years in one of the city’s great neighborhoods, Adams Morgan, Bourbon has decided to close our doors.
The goal was to be a relaxed, easy-going bar, with great music and an even greater staff, to be the neighborhood bar, a whiskey lover’s home at a time when whiskey wasn’t yet the trend. We succeeded.
Instead of reinventing the business entirely, I think it’s best that we re-evaluate exactly what we’re offering to our community and how. I am eager to explore other opportunities within this city. I am grateful for the time and relationships this venture has graced my life with. I credit every single individual that assisted in our success for many years; specifically, our staff and Bill Thomas’s staff in the years before me.
All the priceless memories and impactful moments this little watering hole could pour, we certainly drank. Thank you all.
— James P. Woods, owner”
A reader reports at 8:37pm last night: “Bourbon is closed.” (more…)

Thanks to Dan for sending:
“Per the AdMo Heights‘ amenities site, a “brand new restaurant concept from the owners of Tail Up Goat” is coming to the ground floor space at 1777 Columbia Road NW.”

The Washington Post reported:
“At Reveler’s Hour, which will open next summer — “D.C. permitting permitting,” Tyler jokes — the bar will be front and center, with a larger choice of draft beers, vermouth cocktails and a “fun and irreverent” selection of wines by the glass that might be based around a certain grape varietal or favorite movies.”
STAY TUNED.
Man o man, remember when this was Payless? Avignone Freres Bakery?

“This new store opening in the longtime vacant spot [Ed. Note: The old Footaction sneaker store!!] between Mintwood and Pop’s Sea Bar. According to the website listed on the sign, it sounds like a new phone store. So boring.”
“The future of phone service = no stores, no annual contracts, no hidden fees, no BS.”
UPDATE
Thanks to S.N.L. for sending from Adweek:
“The advertising push involves a host of faux pop-up storefronts in nine major U.S. cities. The catch: None of the stark blue buildings are stores at all. They’re designed to convey the message that Visible’s service is available via app only.”
