A reader sends in this despicable sight:

“A car was spray painted “I luv N****s” btwn 18th and California st NW in Adams Morgan area.”

Last week we heard about cars getting tagged in Columbia Heights but this is a whole other level. I hope MPD resources are assigned to catch this criminal especially if it’s the same serial offender.

Thanks to a reader for sending:

“Update on The Line hotel in Adams Morgan some may be interested in. Seems the lack of progress is due to a lack of permits. Washington Business Journal reports:

“770 Euclid St. NW: This permit calls for the installation of eight temporary dewatering wells by advancing a 12-inch soil boring to a depth of 60 feet on the site of the future Line DC hotel in Adams Morgan. The sheeting and shoring and building permits for the hotel itself are the subject of not-yet-approved applications.”

Bicycle Space in on a tear! Now they’re taking over the sweet newly renovated former Slaviya/Cities spot on 18th Street.

From Bicycle Space:

“BicycleSPACE announces the spring opening of an unimaginably large shop in Adams Morgan, an expansion progressing in tandem with the company’s upcoming shops in Mt. Vernon Triangle and Ivy City.

The Adams Morgan shop is located at 2424 18th St NW in a 6,400-square-foot storefront. At this size, the shop is the literal definition of BicycleSPACE, now enlarged to create a more opportune environment for bicyclists.

With this much physical space, BicycleSPACE will exponentially increase its ability to serve the greater Washington, D.C. market. It will also strengthen the D.C. economy by creating 40 new jobs, bringing its total workforce to 70+ employees.

BicycleSPACE anticipates an April move into the Adams Morgan property. In May, the company expects to open its 4,100-square-foot shop at 440 K St NW. BicycleSPACE anticipates a June opening at 1512 Okie St NE in the Hecht Warehouse District of Ivy City

BicycleSPACE is poised to become the largest bicycle retailer in D.C.

Last week we learned that De Vinos was closing after 9 years in Adams Morgan (hopefully securing a new space nearby soon.) At that time I had also heard some scuttlebutt that the folks from Jack Rose had purchased the space. In the comments a reader mentioned that next door neighbor Dahlak was closing too. This morning the Washington Post confirms the deal:

“In a move that’s likely to spur a few glass clinks, Bill Thomas, owner of Jack Rose Dining Saloon, has purchased the properties occupied by De Vinos and Dahlak Restaurant.”

Looking forward to learning more of his plans. Stay tuned.

From an email:

“With great sadness, we would like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you, our wonderful customers and clients, for frequenting De Vinos over the past nine years.

We are extremely proud of the quality of our service and product that we have brought to Adams Morgan. However, it is our customers and clients that have truly made De Vinos a success. For this, we cannot thank you enough.

De Vinos space is slated for sale much to our dismay, we are closing. We are seeking a new location somewhere within the community to continue to purvey our selection.

De Vinos will be closing by the end of this month, or as soon we liquidate our inventory. Please, come say Hi and enjoy the great savings in our “Gotta Sell It Specials”.

We will keep you updated on our progress as to new location.!

Once again, THANK YOU all, who have patronized us through the years.

– de vinos”

Ed. Note: As for the sweet scuttlebutt – I’m hearing it may have something to do with nearby Jack Rose and though I have no idea what plans are, Jack Rose is awesome so if affiliated this will be sweet indeed (assuming of course that De Vinos finds a new spot and opens soon nearby.) Stay tuned on all fronts.

Pharmacy Bar 2.0 closed back in January. Get ready for The High Dive. The Washington Post reports:

“Dubbed The High Dive, the new space comes from Tristan Magee and Andrew Stuart, college buddies and longtime local service industry alums. It’s expected to open in March.

The concise beverage menu will include a draft list, bottles, wine and classic cocktails with a subtle twist, like a Moscow Mule with jalapeno-infused vodka and a spin on the Long Island ice tea.”

Ed. Note: While you’re waiting – Angles located next door is the best chill bar on 18th Street.
