“Dear PoPville,

I was wondering if anyone in the area, either on Upshur St NW or in the alley between Upshur and Varnum Streets were able to catch anyone or any noise overnight. This car is my father’s main mode of transportation to and from work, since he works in construction. My father is an immigrant from El Salvador, and he worked very hard to be able to purchase this car. Understandably, this is frustrating for him and for us. It’s our first time having to deal with this.

I would respectfully ask anyone who has any video or audio recording to please send it to Officer Keton Valcin at [email protected], referencing CCN# 25-149-549. (more…)

Officers located one adult male and one adult female inside of a vehicle, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I thought I would share an absurd story that just happened tonight in 16th Street Heights, on Arkansas Avenue.

At around 10pm tonight (Wed.), a vehicle was stopped by the police. Within a minute, 5 other law enforcement vehicles arrived, including unmarked vehicles with FBI agents, a vehicle from Customs and Border Protection, and several MPD vehicles. Altogether, there were about 15 law enforcement individuals (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

On May 8th, Longfellow St neighbors in 16th Street Heights became proud parents, in side-by-side hospital rooms!, both welcoming baby boys Scotty and James at Sibley Hospital. These “Long-Fellas” are already neighbors, birthday buddies, and future partners in mischief!” (more…)

A very reasonable request from one of my all time favorite spots – Moreland’s Tavern:

“Made it through the pandemic. Trying to make it through I-82 and the crazy labor cost increases. Now construction has pretty much closed our doors since November. It’s tough out here, support Small Business.”

This place is such a gem, it’s something that every single neighborhood wants – comfortable, good food, good drinks and the BEST hospitality – please help them get through this tough time with all the construction out front. It’s still lovely inside!!

Check out their menu here.

Their hours are: “Monday : Closed (for now)
Tue./Wed./Thurs.: 4pm – 10pm
Friday: 4pm – 11pm
Saturday: 12pm – 11pm
