Mercifully, Hanukkah gets going on a reasonable date this year (12/18), so we’ll be able to pregame well into the month. “I asked NPS directly about the rest of the timing, and here’s what they sent back to me:

“We anticipate pre-show activities beginning around 5pm, and the main show itself about a half an hour later. The main show is anticipated to run approximately one hour or so.”

Update from NPS:

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will help celebrate the 2022 holiday season by lighting the National Christmas Tree at the 100th National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will also attend the lighting. The ceremony takes place on the Ellipse in President’s Park on Nov. 30.

The lighting ceremony will also include remarks from Secretary of the Interior, Deb Haaland.”

“The Salt Line is once again hosting a Christmas tree lot at its Navy Yard location. Now in its 11th year, the Christmas tree lot will offer Fraser and Balsam firs ranging in sizes from tabletop to 12 feet tall, as well as tree stands, wreaths, garlands, and ornaments. 100% of sales proceeds benefit the DC Firefighters Burn Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to the rehabilitation and recovery of injured firefighters and burn patients. The lot will be open daily starting Friday, November 25, until inventory is sold out. Anyone who purchases a tree will receive a free hot cocktail from The Salt Line.
